Anthony Huck, a charter broker from Burgess’ Monaco office, gives us an insight into the current charter industry with an exclusive Q&A interview.
Is there still availability for charters later in the year?
There is indeed plenty of top yachts available later this year. Thinking positively, we could expect (and hope) that in late summer the Med may be open for business again and maybe we could see an extended late summer season into September/October or even November, depending on the global situation. If this scenario plays out, we can easily imagine an enormous amount of top yachts available on the market and extremely keen to welcome charter clients at very interesting rates.
What destinations are you expecting to be most popular once travel restrictions are lifted?
I am expecting to see higher interest in destinations where the client can truly experience natural beauty while staying away from the crowded shoreline. I am particularly thinking about Croatia or the Eastern Med. In some places the climate can be extremely favourable with high temperatures until October.
I am also expecting strong interest in new remote destination such as Scandinavia, the Red or Black Seas or even the Indian Ocean. I think these destinations are on the bucket list for many charter clients. if they never seriously envisaged to take the plunge before, now might be the most opportune moment.
If you could charter any yacht, which one would it be and why?
Project Ragnar without hesitation! She simply fills every criteria. She is new on the charter market, an explorer with an amazing cruising program including remote destination such as Scandinavia, Iceland, Greenland, Patagonia or Antarctica. She is also perfectly equipped with all the amenities and equipment you could expect on these types of yachts, including a submersible, helideck, ice tenders, snow mobile, quads… the list is as endless as the possibilities are!
