Charter corner: On board Jo with captain Ian Robertson

2 March 2021

Set over four glorious decks and designed with good old-fashioned family fun in mind, it's no surprise that Jo is one of the most sought-after yachts on the charter market. There's a treasure trove of toys ready and raring to go, with kitesurf and windsurf instructors among the crew, while the sundeck is surrounded by balustrades offering peace of mind for those with little ones in tow. Captain Ian Robertson walks us through the 50 metre Benetti...

What makes Jo a great charter yacht?

It's the versatility that a 50 metre Benetti offers: exceptional deck space, perfectly appointed interiors, an array of water toys and large tenders but still compact enough to berth in many iconic ports in the Mediterranean, with great seakeeping and comfort at anchor.

What is your favourite feature and why does it work well for charter guests?

The sundeck offers uninterrupted space for entertaining with its DJ setup and provides superb views of both the chicane at the Monaco Grand Prix and horizon views whilst at sea. Meanwhile, the yacht has the ability to create intimate family spaces too.

What type of charter is Jo best suited to?

Jo is best suited to families with its safe and secure deck spaces, family areas and sundeck Jacuzzi, plus crew provide skills to teach the children water sports and provide a safe and encouraging atmosphere to enjoy life at sea.

What is your most memorable charter moment on board Jo?

During my 15 years on board, I have enjoyed many exceptional charters, from New Year celebrations in St. Barths, to F1 victories, re-creating a wedding and vow renewal, accompanying guests whilst kitesurfing in the pristine waters of Barbuda... endless memories.

Where is your favourite charter destination and why?

Croatia with its stunning calm waters, historical interest ashore and incredible scenery.

How does Jo go the extra mile for charter guests?

We ensure the family feel immediately at ease on board, kick off the shoes, relax, indulge, disconnect, take the water toys for a spin - whatever the guest desires the Jo crew will accommodate and beyond.

Jo is managed by Camper & Nicholsons International with charters starting from €175,000 per week.
