What's In Build: On board Van der Valk's new 25M Flybridge
The 25M Flybridge marks the beginning of a new generation of modern flybridge motor yachts from Dutch shipyard Van der Valk, having amped up its original formula with open bulwarks and 360-degree panoramas. Available for purchase with construction well underway, BOAT takes a closer look...
What was the brief?
The model was conceived as a 23 metre sistership to Van der Valk's flybridge models Joy and Grey Falcon, but a last-minute decision saw the owner upgrade to a 26-metre Raised Pilothouse after glimpsing the interiors of Mr Maverick. As the cutting files for the initial order were already complete, Van der Valk decided to continue with the build, but with a new and improved superstructure and refined interior courtesy of Cor D Rover. “The new modern Flybridge is not intended to replace the more classic model," the yard said. “It will instead complement the options for clients having been specially designed for ease of operation and even single-handed cruising.”
What has been the most challenging part of the build so far?
According to the yard, the biggest challenge was the engineering of the 2.1-metre-high panels of glass that surround the main saloon, along with the all-new open bulwarks. Floor-to-ceiling windows are just one of the new design features that opens and illuminates the interior while providing its guests with 360-degree "sweeping vistas" from the comfort the sofa, bar or open galley.
What are the standout features on board?
The exterior decks reign supreme and offer "just as much space as the Van de Valk BeachClub", according to the yard. Naturally, owners looking to cruise the warm waters of the Mediterranean or Caribbean will spend the majority of their time unwinding on the flybridge, which is split into three areas: a shaded al fresco dining table and bar take centre stage with sunloungers aft and sun pads forward. A second sunning spot can be found at the bow with large sunpads and a U-shaped sofa and table for morning coffees or sundowners.
The interior is equally spacious too, boasting four double en suite cabins on the lower deck with quarters for crew. Cor D Rover developed three interior options for owners to choose from named "Cosy Cognac”, “Cyan Life” and “Sensation White”.
What is the status of the build and when is the scheduled delivery date?
Construction on the hull is complete and ready for an owner to join the project with their own vision for the interior and finish. Available for purchase, the 25M Flybridge can be delivered to its new owner as soon as the first quarter of 2022.
