What's In Build: Westport's 52 metre flagship motor yacht

22 February 2021

LOA: 52 metres
Interior designer:  Westport
Exterior designer:  Westport
Naval architect:  Westport

What was the brief?
The brief was to meet the demands of owners wishing to move up to a bigger series/spec boat. The 52 metre tri-deck motor yacht offers an advanced hull designed by Westport and elevates cruising to a new level. A slightly larger version of the proven 50 metre series incorporates updated exterior styling and technology.

What has been the most challenging part of the build so far?
Navigating through the Covid-19 Pandemic and seeing how it will affect the supply chain in the foreseeable future. Another big issue that we have faced has been the ability to get buyers to physically visit our Shipyards. New EPA requirements have also been challenging.

Name one or two standout features on board.
1) Stabilization:
· Gyro Stabilization
· Stabilization underway and at anchor
· Naiad model 575 hydraulic actuators electrically powered by hydraulic pumps driven by the main engines
· Two fins, nominally 30 square foot each
· Control is from the Engine Room or the Pilothouse

2) The expansive beach club:
· Fold-down beach platforms port and starboard
· Platforms deploy hydraulically and are equipped with dogging pins when stowed
· Teak deck
· Day head
· Wet bar
· Storage arrangements  for loose furniture when tenders are stored
· TV and entertainment system

What is the status of the build and when is the scheduled delivery date?
The molds are currently underway and the delivery is two years out.
