Pendennis Vilanova: A New Destination for Repair and Maintenance Work in the Mediterranean

In October 2018, Pendennis announced a majority share hold in Vilanova Grand Marina in Barcelona, Spain. The company moved quickly to develop adjacent land, and in the fall of 2019 opened a superyacht technical service centre called Pendennis Vilanova.

Encompassing a 30,000 square metre shipyard equipped with 200- and 620-tonne travel hoists, the Pendennis Vilanova Technical Service Centre is focused on small- to medium-scale refits. It is run by a team of 25 tradespeople comprising multi-lingual individuals from the UK and Spain with a wide range of skills, including fabrication, electrical, engineering, joinery, paint and exterior outfitting. Many of the team in Vilanova have worked for Pendennis at their home base in Falmouth, UK, and have brought with them the flexible skillset they acquired from years of working within a busy world-class superyacht business. The dynamic nature of the team at Pendennis Vilanova allows them to easily adapt to a client’s individual project requirements.

Pendennis Vilanova and Vilanova Grand Marina work in tandem to provide a complete service for superyachts in the Mediterranean. The proximity of the technical service centre to the 48-berth marina allows for projects to be carried out both on the hard in the service centre or afloat in the marina itself. Clients can either self-manage or utilise the team of in-house tradespeople during their stay. Many have chosen a combination of the two.

Supporting both the existing Pendennis fleet as well as new clients, Pendennis Vilanova has transformed a first-class marina into a one-stop-shop destination for short- or long-term berthing and conducting technical works, including haul-out if necessary – backed by a renowned and established British shipyard.
