Regular maintenance is crucial for enhancing the performance of a superyacht at sea. In the case of the 60 metre Mondomarine motor yacht Sarastar, a discerning owner turned to the experts at Palumbo Superyacht Refit to make sure she refreshed and ready for the upcoming season
Instantly recognisable with her dark hull, sharp exterior lines and extensive deck space, Sarastar is a perfect showcase of Luca Dini design. She can accommodate 12 guests and 15 crew in her eclectic, elegant interiors finished with white and black onyx, semi-precious stones and bespoke textiles from Stefano Ricci. Highlights on board include a touch-and-go helipad, a sizeable beach club and an open-plan sundeck complete with a garden and drinks bar.
Alongside her multitude of on-board offerings, Sarastar can achieve a top-speed of 19 knots and boasts a range of just over 4000 nautical miles.
Sarastar checked into Palumbo’s yard in Savona, Italy, in between charters for a number of repair works needed to keep her shipshape. With her interiors still in prime condition, it was her exterior elements that required some care from Palumbo.
During her stay at Palumbo’s dry dock, the team washed and applied a double coat of antifouling to her hull and also performed an antifouling service using Propspeed on her propellers after dissembling, checking and balancing them.
The Palumbo experts also disassembled, deep-cleaned and repaired the main sea chests; removing the left shaft and disassembling the SKF coupling to replace the shaft bearing.
Originally delivered in 2017, Sarastar is now good as new thanks to the work undertaken on her tech equipment and exteriors at Palumbo.
