47 metre Feadship motor yacht Sea Racer sold

47 metre Feadship motor yacht Sea Racer sold

The 46.63 metre fast motor yacht Sea Racer, listed for sale by Merle Wood and John Cohen at Merle Wood & Associates, has been sold in an in-house deal.

Built to ABS class by Feadship to a design by De Voogt, Sea Racer has a steel hull and GRP superstructure, and was delivered in 2001 as Detroit Eagle. This superyacht’s delivery was greeted with intense press coverage because of her extraordinary propulsion package. Twin 3,650hp MTU engines are linked to a 5,600hp Lycoming/DDC gas turbine giving a total of 12,900hp to deliver a top speed of 35 knots and a range of 3,000 nautical miles at 11 knots.

Continuously upgraded and recently refitted in 2016, her timeless John Munford interior offers accommodation for up to ten guests in a main-deck master suite, double VIP suite and two twin cabins with two Pullman berths, all with full en-suite bathroom facilities.

All the interior bulkheads are honeycomb-cored to reduce weight and keep the centre of gravity low, while the luxurious furnishings are built from lightweight materials — for example the richly toned madrona and lighter anigre interior joinery are veneer, vacuum-bagged over a foam or honeycomb core.

Brilliantly lacquered finishes on the interior joinery give her a sharply defined, contemporary air. In counterpoint, soft textures and simple patterns in the furnishings make the interior feel warm and inviting. Particularly effective is the use of woven leather wall coverings in the main stairwell and on the bulkheads concealing the vast air intakes. Because the dining room is often used as a conference room, it can be closed off from the saloon by a beautiful etched-glass sliding door.

Sea Racer was asking $14,950,000.
