Cantu Design has revealed renderings for its latest project, a 100 metre superyacht with an interior inspired by the owner’s love of cinema and film.

The CD100 will be constructed in aluminium and steel, and accommodate up to 16 guests and 30 members of crew.

Principal designer of the project and founder of the studio, John Cantu, has described the  exterior as having a “timeless” style “heavily influenced by my experience working under Glade Johnson on Attessa IV.”

A beam of 14.82 metres will provide ample interior volume with plenty of space to add cinematic finishing touches, including a private screening room.

A helipad offers direct access to the private owner's deck.

“The design brief required a yacht that the owner could entertain guests on at various film events around the world such as the Cannes Film Festival. The ability to host private parties within a dazzling interior with a cinema at the heart — aft of the upper deck — was an important factor,” explained Cantu.

Unusually, the CD100 has been designed with curved walkways and walls, particularly in the spa on the lower deck on the main deck between the lobby and guest areas. “One of the keys to the interior layout was to try and make the journey from one end of the yacht to the other as interesting as possible,” said Cantu. “By opting for curved walls and corridors wherever possible, it adds intrigue and avoids the mundane straight line that we have become accustomed to seeing.”

The CD100 will feature a beach club and wellness centre.

Another highlight on board the CD100 is the aft main deck with a swimming pool surrounded by al fresco seating and a full-beam deck area. This area can be used as a dancefloor or extension of the pool deck. To maintain privacy, these platforms can be lowered after launching without losing the ocean views protection from the elements.

The upper decks feature al fresco dining and entertaining spaces as well as multiple swimming pools.

Other details included in the design are a library, office, a circular skylounge with a second swimming pool, an enclosed observation lounge/meeting room with a private balcony and a wellness complete with a gym, massage room, hammam, sauna, changing rooms, a hairdressing salon and a special diving room.

The CD100 will be able to reach a top speed of 17 knots.

The owner’s suite encompasses an entire deck and boasts separate his and hers bathrooms as well as a walk-in wardrobe, a private office, saloon and bar and a circular dining room for eight guests if the owner opts for a more intimate dinner. The owner’s deck also offers private access to a Jacuzzi, sunbed and helipad.

The CD100 has a top speed of 17 knots and a range of 4,000 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 13.5 knots.
