Feadship Explorer Superyacht Project 708 Revealed

30 October 2020By Miranda Blazeby

Feadship's 55 metre explorer superyacht named Project 708 has been revealed for the first time.

The expedition-styled superyacht has now begun outfitting at Feadship's Aalsmeer yard after it emerged from the hull-building facility in Papendrecht.

Due for delivery in 2021, Project 708 has been designed by Philippe Briand's Vitruvius design studio. The interior meanwhile has been penned by Danielle Boutsen of Boutsen Design.

Described by the yard as "fully self-sufficient and exceptionally fuel-efficient", Project 708 is designed to take on gruelling adventures such as the North West and North East passages.

Key features include a steel, ice class hull and advanced sonar system for exploring the ocean floor. Traditional stabiliser fins, which could be damaged by underwater ice, will be swapped for a gyroscope system which Feadship estimates to the largest built to date.

Elsewhere, Project 708 will be equipped with plenty of storage for toys and tenders, including a 6.3 tonne submarine that will sit upon the long aft deck.

The submarine will be deployed by a crane capable of lifting weights up to 7000 kg with a reach of almost eight metres.

The crane will also be used to launch and retrieve the limousine tender and for lifting the owner's car from the deck to the shore.
