Bintador

At 20 square metres, the galley on board the Tankoa superyacht Bintador is “probably the biggest you can find on a 50-metre yacht,” the owner’s project manager, Giancarlo Mussino, said. A central island seats six people. Having a sizeable, sociable galley was a mandatory request from the owner, according to Giuseppe Mazza, sales and business development manager of Tankoa. “She likes to cook and entertain the guests, and there are windows on three sides of the galley, so she can see the crew passing by and part of the guest accommodations.”

The Beast

The owner of the 39 metre catamaran The Beast requested an open-plan dining/galley area adjacent to the saloon. “That whole area is designed around that one piece, which makes that corner of the boat a real centrepiece and connects the dining and lounge spaces nicely,” says Moltschaniwskyj. The end result is an inviting dining area that can be closed off from the open galley as needed, leading into a relaxed lounge space. “The owners enjoy interacting with the chef and the galley, so that open layout was important to them,” says Grocott. On the sundeck, a teppanyaki grill allows the chef to show off his or her culinary skills in front of a live audience.

Geist

The extraordinary interior of the first Spirit 111 sailing yacht Geist was the creation of Rhoades Young. “The client had recently visited Antelope Canyon in Arizona and this was the catalyst for the idea of the warm, soft flowing walls creating unique focal points within the room," said Rhoades Young partner Jonathan Rhoades. The main saloon, pictured, encompasses a lounge and dining area, navigation station and galley is one open, circular area, lit from overhead by Spirit’s trademark fan windows in the deck. Initially, the galley was designed to join this table and seating arrangement, however the owner didn’t want anything to detract from the centrepiece. Even now all galley elements are hidden below the countertop and inside lockers.

Delivered in 2021, Feadship's 76 metre Boardwalk features a "guest galley" on the main deck which is a favoured spot for casual family meals. The open plan environment turns the culinary experience into a social event thanks to a central kitchen island lined by stools. Amy Halffman, who designed the yacht's interiors, is behind the pleasant combination of dark wood cupboards, marble surface tops and glinting silver hobs.

The 26.7 metre Sanlorenzo SX88 was designed by Piero Lissoni and features an entirely open kitchen next to its dining room. “I keep picturing boats, even very large ones, as if they were lofts: that is very open, highly liveable spaces, which make it possible to be in contact with what’s around us” said Lissoni.

Freedom

The unusual layout on board Roberto Cavalli's 27-metre Freedom sees the full beam galley and dining space located on the lower deck. Cavalli loves to cook himself, so the galley has been made intentionally spacious, with plentiful counter space and a good sound system. It is so large in fact, that Cavalli claimed: “It’s bigger than my bedroom."

M55

M55 was built in steel and aluminium by Yildiz Gemi and delivered in 2021. The 41 metre motor yacht is home to a bright galley with an oblong-shaped island illuminated by six rose-gold lamps. With plenty of space to create food while entertaining guests, the area also benefits from a large fridge alongside an oven and induction hob.

Silver Fox

The generous galley on board Silver Fox, the second yacht in the Baglietto T-Line 48 series, was a major selling point for the owner, who lives by the maxim "happy crew, happy guests". The galley has an inviting and homely feel and features a dumb waiter which reaches the upper deck pantry and sun deck.
