The sailing yachts taking on The Superyacht Cup Palma 2019

Delivered in 2014 and named after a legend in Irish mythology, the 32 metre Child of Lir is instantly recognisable on the race field for her light grey hull. The Nautor’s Swan yacht was designed by Beiderbeck Designs with naval architecture by German Frers.

Having gained a sold reputation for her high performance racing prowess, Leopard III is one to watch at the Superyacht Cup 2019. The 30 metre yacht was delivered by McConaghy Boats in 2007 and was designed by Ken Freivokh. Naval architecture was handled by Farr Yacht Design while interior design was handled by Design Unlimited.

The 52 metre schooner Meteor is returning to the Superyacht Cup for the first time since 2007 and takes the mantle as the largest yacht in this year’s race. Her classic clipper-like design by Dykstra/ Alden Design was built by Royal Huisman in 2017. Most recently sold in January this year, Meteor scooped a World Superyacht Award in 2008.

Delivered in 2016, the carbon fibre yacht Missy was built especially for high performance world cruising. This resulted in a slim 7.5 metre beam, lifting keel and generous sail plan. Sporting interior design by Design Unlimited, Missy features a low profile exterior design by Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design.

Nilaya returns to the Cup after a class winning performance at her race debut in 2011. Delivered in 2010 by Baltic Yachts, this sleek 34 metre carbon sloop weighs just 89 tonnes. Design by Nauta Yachts, with naval architecture by Reichel-Pugh, Nilaya can accommodate up to eight guests with seven crew.

Delivered in 2001 by Nautor’s Swan, the high performance bluewater cruiser Stay Calm returns to the cup after previously competing in 2016. Designed by German Frers, this Swan 70 underwent a refit in 2009 and can accommodate a total of six guests with two crew members.

A recent addition to the J-Class fleet, the 42.7 metre Topaz was delivered in 2015 by Holland Jachtbouw and based on a 1935 Frank C Paine design by Hoek Design. She comes to the cup having finished 2018 on a high scooping the J-Class category at the Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez.

Delivered in 2012, the 26-metre modern-classic sloop Tulip is a familiar face at the Superyacht Cup with 2019 marking her fourth appearance. Featuring interior design by Sinot Yacht Design, this light and fast K&M superyacht can accommodate a total of six guests and two crew.

The legendary Velsheda returns to the competition as the defending champion having scooped victory in a closely fought battle with Mari-Cha III last year. The 1933 38 metre J-Class was built by Camper & Nicholsons and is named after the three daughters of the original owner – Velma, Sheila and Daphne.

This 33 metre lightweight cruiser-racer has a light displacement of 82 tonnes and was especially designed for regattas and long family cruises. The second Baltic-built yacht to bid for the cup this year, WinWin was designed by Javier Jaudenes and won the cup in 2016.
