The wheelhouse is much more than just the room where the captain spends the majority of their time. It provides some of the best views out to sea and can be a great place for plotting your next adventure. We pick out seven of the very best, starting with the 107.4 metre Ulysses.

The bridge of this Kleven explorer yacht was inspired by offshore support vessels — albeit smartened up with carbon fibre and teak — and boasts huge windows for excellent visibility. For an extra premium touch, all of the equipment is by Rolls-Royce.

Launched in late 2015, Ulysses is the first superyacht from the Norwegian yard, which is best known for building commercial ships. The owner has also ordered a larger, 116.15 metre version and both yachts boast exterior styling by New Zealand studio Oscar Mike.

The wheelhouse on the 101 metre Kusch Yachts masterpiece I Dynasty boldly goes where no helm design has gone before. Step into the Starship Enterprise-style bridge and you can almost hear the captain say: “Warp speed, Mr. Sulu.” In reality, I Dynasty boasts a more leisurely top speed of 17 knots.
