Bugamena, turned at Royal Huisman yard
The Dykstra & Partners designed hull of the 37 metre cutter-rigged sloop Bugamena was turned at the Royal Huisman yard in Vollenhove in late December to reveal a low profile ‘Spirit of Tradition’ yacht in the making.
Below the waterline she has a modern body shape and a fully ballasted vertically retractable bulb keel, while above the waterline her sheer hull and elegant counter stern will be complemented by varnished, teak-clad deckhouses, the superstructure of which has already been engineered in one integrated piece with the hull.
Meanwhile, Royal Huisman’s joinery department is building her Rhoades Young designed interior, which combines a nostalgic period feel evoked by smoke-aged oak panels and painted and rubbed wax finishes with a more contemporary Nantucket beach house atmosphere.
Bugamena
The yacht is designed with a 48 metre Rondal carbon mast and modern onboard systems which will make her easy to handle, and comfortable to cruise.
Bugamena is due to be launched and delivered to her owner in Spring 2012.
