Sanlorenzo confirms five motor yachts in-build

25 October 2012

Italian builder Sanlorenzo has revealed that it is building a total of five hulls spanning three new models.

‘Two SL 118 and two SD 110 are sold and under construction,’ says Massimo Perotti, CEO of Sanlorenzo. ‘We will launch them together next year, in our annual event during the 2013 Monaco Yacht Show.’

Both are new sizes in established Sanlorenzo lines. In addition, the yard is continuing its foray into explorer yachts – the 38Exp was unveiled at last year’s Monaco Yacht Show – with the commissioned build of the 42m 42Exp. For more on this expedition yacht see the upcoming new concepts feature in the January 2013 edition of Boat International.

The 36.5m composite-built SL 118 will become the flagship and largest member of the yard’s well-known planing range, which also includes SL 108 and SL 104 models. ‘There are many innovative features on the SL 118,’ says Perotti, ‘like the hydro-dynamic research on the hull that allows a 37m to cruise at 24 knots with two 1,940kW engines.’ The use of double glazing as bulkheads on the lower deck allows light to flow through the space, while the master and saloon feature fold-down terraces.

The 33.65m SD 110 is, Perotti says, ‘The natural model of yacht between the two existing Sanlorenzo semi-displacement motor yachts , SD 92 with the flying bridge and the (World Superyacht Award-winning) SD 122 with the upper-deck.’ It is aimed at clients who want a semi-displacement with an upper deck at a lower price than the SD 122. The interior includes a master suite with an office, while twin 12V 2,000 M72 engines offer a predicted top speed of 17 knots and a 2,500nm range at 11 knots.
