Nick Mezas Yacht Design reveals new 30m superyacht concept

Nick Mezas Yacht Design has released images of a new 30-metre superyacht concept featuring a full beam owner's cabin on the deck level.

The design house, based in The Hague, aimed to create a 30-metre superyacht that “made the most of the space on board, without compromising the aesthetic appearance of the yacht”. Mezas said, “I wanted to somehow incorporate a full beam owner’s cabin or wide body on the main deck yet still keep a sporty, aggressive looking profile. During sketching it became clear that a vertical bow was best suited for the profile to work.”

Guests can enjoy themselves in a split level bridge, which offers seating “dedicated especially for those who enjoy watching the ever changing horizon”. The same can be done on the sun deck, which features a flybridge helm, a shaded seating area, another large sunbed and lots of deck space for water toys.

“The fun and exciting part,” said Mezas, “is trying to design an attractive, functional and practical layout for a total of eight guests including the owners, and four crew plus one captain. I always enjoy this stage in the design process, especially on a project such as this, because at first it might seem impossible to get all the design ideas to work together harmoniously, yet through perseverance it always works out!”

The lower deck of the superyacht features one VIP guest cabin towards the bow, two twin guest cabins on either side, a captain’s cabin and a spacious galley on the starboard side with direct access to the engine room. Through the engine room is a door to the crew mess. There is also a staircase that runs from the crew area up to the main deck, which maximises the guests’ privacy. There is also a food lift, running from the galley to a pantry on the main deck.

“One of the bigger design challenges was to incorporate a full beam owner’s cabin on the main deck,” said Mezas. “Rarely seen on yachts of this size, this not only provides the owner with more floor space, but the elevated views through the large windows is unmatched.”

The main saloon offers a lounge area and dining table for eight. This whole area can be opened up to the yacht’s surroundings, thanks to large sliding doors and balconies opposite the dining table. Outside, guests can enjoy seating at the stern or a large sunbed at the bow. The yacht’s waterjet-driven tender is stowed under the sunbed.

Nick Mezas Yacht Design is to be responsible for the design of the 24m Moonen Mallorca superyacht it was announced last year.
