7 of the best new interiors pieces from Salone del Mobile 2016

Armani/Casa

Salone del Mobile, the headline fair of the annual Milan Design Week, is internationally renowned as the place to discover the best new furniture and interiors trends that will be dictating our surroundings for the coming year. With the world’s finest designers, suppliers and luxury manufacturers in attendance, here are the 2016’s new launches to know about.

Armani/Casa

As anyone who’s seen the inside of Giorgio Armani’s yacht Main will know, the designer has a strong interior design aesthetic characterised by industrial hues and sharp lines. Armani/Casa’s Salone del Mobile offering was no different with plenty of geometric shapes and high polish with just a hint of colour and texture thrown in for added interest. Superyacht owners looking for a chic update should act fast to get their hands on the Club bar cabinet (pictured) - created in a limited edition of 50, this brass and black straw marquetry piece features stunning handmade doors inspired by Hokusai’s The Great Wave.

Dedar

Textiles specialist Dedar has been a favourite among the superyacht set for years thanks to its stylish, high-quality fabrics. Launching its new collection at Salone del Mobile, the brand took inspiration from traditional fashion fabrics such as moleskin, silk and twill to create a range of colourful, intricately patterned textiles guaranteed to stand out. Highlights include the Art Deco-style embroidered Viva silk (pictured) and a series of Breton striped outdoor fabrics perfect for the beach club.

Stefano Ricci

While not technically at the Salone del Mobile, it’s worth making the trip down the road to the exclusive Hotel Principe di Savoia where Stefano Ricci has taken up residence during Milan Design Week. The brand is famed for its opulent interior design pieces and for 2016 offers up Grecian-inspired tableware in turquoise or lapis finished with gilt edging perfect for your luxury yacht cruise in the Ionian islands.

Baldi Home Jewels

Never one to shy away from statement interiors, Baldi Home Jewels used the Salone del Mobile to unveil a world first – a huge bathtub made entirely from rose quartz. Designed by Luca Bojola, the bathtub was carved from a single block of African quartz - making it a completely unique item - and is available with a matching rose quartz hand basin and side table from Baldi’s popular Queen line.

Kartell

For the Salone del Mobile Kartell divided its stand into 11 micro-environments dedicated to key designers including Eugeni Quitllet, Alberto Meda and Patricia Urquiola. Of most interest to those kitting out their superyachts, however, will be those pieces penned by Philippe Starck – the designer behind Superyacht A and Venus to name just two. Starck’s latest collection of pastel-coloured chairs is named Generic and intends to shine a new light on the everyday design we take for granted.

Minotti

Turn al fresco cocktail hour into the chicest of superyacht experiences with Minotti’s latest range of outdoor furniture by Rodolfo Dordoni. With minimalist dark wood frames and plump cushions available in a range of fabrics the Virginia chairs and sofas (pictured) are ideal for creating a casual outdoor entertaining space while the Indiana chaise longue is a decidedly more stylish alternative to a standard sunbed.

Lasvit

Whether your superyacht’s style is lavish and luxurious or low key and minimal, Lasvit’s 2016 lighting offering has something to suit. Inspired by the intricate styles favoured during the reign of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria, Jakub Berdych’s iridescent pressed glass chandelier is a show-stopper perfect for hanging over a formal dining table or staircase. For something a little more everyday, Arik Levy’s Crystal Rock pendant lights come in blue, red or white and the range has been extended to include matching vases.
