Last month we reported the yachts sold in October as ‘sobering.’ So perhaps it might be an idea to pour yourself a glass of something strong before going through the list of November’s yacht sales. In all, nine superyachts over 24m were reported sold at asking prices totalling €40.7 million, as against October’s figures of 14 yachts sold at €70.8 million. However, the outlook isn’t too bleak as already, in only first two weeks of December, ten yachts have been reported sold, including – hot off the press – Kokomo the 51.7m sailing yacht from Alloy Yachts.

Asked for his views on the current market, Kevin Merrigan says, “In my 22 years at Northrop and Johnson, we have seen several of these cycles. Regardless of the economy, there are always buyers and always sellers. However, best of times or worst of times it is interesting to me that in a specific category there are only a few outstanding values. Meaning that, if you are in the market for the best value in a 45m power or sailing yacht, there are only one or two that come to the forefront as offering exceptional value.”
