Claydon Reeves

History

Founding superyacht design studio Claydon Reeves in 2010, business partners James Claydon and Mike Reeves set out to create cutting edge but practical superyacht designs drawing on a wealth of experience both in custom yacht design and the automotive industries. Claydon’s background includes more than a decade with such superyacht design specialists as Redmond Whitely Dixon and Donald Starkey. All in, the Claydon Reeves superyacht design team boasts more than 30 years combined experience in luxury yacht design.

Notable yachts

Claydon Reeves was responsible for the exterior styling and custom interior of the 34 metre currently in build at the Mulder yard in Holland, due to launch in 2015. The studio has also developed a number of interesting concepts, including the 70 metre Caspian custom superyacht, a 40 metre motor yacht and the innovative 46 metre sailing yacht Exo.

Specialistions

The studio employs a car design philosophy to much of its exterior design work, resulting in ‘hydroforms’ and highly sculptured exterior lines. The team has collaborated with a number of companies to produce viable concept superyachts including naval architects BMT Nigel Gee to create 55 metre extreme semi-SWATH Oxygen and Chuan, and Dykstra Naval Architects on Exo. Claydon Reeves also worked with Edmiston on the 110 metre Radiance concept, with Pendennis on the 59 metre Meteora motor yacht, and produced stunning designs for the Aeroboat – a modern classic dayboat powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine from a Spitfire. Claydon Reeves also undertakes bespoke furniture design.
