Ocean Independence sells superyacht Asteria
by Malcolm MacLean
For a few weeks I've been following the sale of the 49m motor yacht Asteria, a central listing with Peter Hurzeler at Ocean Independence, and now his colleague Peter Thompson tells me he found the buyer and the deal is closed.
Built in 1970 by Greece’s Anastassiades & Tsortanides yard, the Asteria was converted in 2000/2002 by Northport Engineering in New Zealand into a world cruising explorer yacht.
Now fully Lloyds classed, she accommodates 12 guests in six cabins and, carrying a heli-deck, is fitted with zero speed stabilisers and comes complete with a large Northwind aluminium RIB tender. Asteria was asking $12.5 million.
