by Chris Jefferies
The 27.5 metre Alberto Mancini-designed motor yacht Kalliente has been launched by Dominator, it has been revealed. The yard adds that she will undergo sea trials before making her public debut at the 2017 Cannes and Monaco yacht shows.
Built in Epoxy Carbon to MCA standards, this semi-displacement luxury yacht is powered by twin 1,200hp MAN V8 diesel engines to a top speed of 21 knots. The emphasis on interior light inspired the series name Ilumen.
Kalliente can accommodate 10 guests in five guest suites, with space for three crew. Mancini provided both the interior and exterior design with an emphasis on sleek and modern elements such as backlit white onyx, ebony, zebrano, matte oak and soft nubuck leather. Key features include floor-to-ceiling glazing in the saloon and a contemporary-style superyacht office.
Angela Pernsteiner, managing partner at Dominator Yachts, said: "The entire Dominator design, engineering and construction team has put blood, sweat and tears into creating a yachting revolution and we are proud that this has been rewarded by the market."
The naval architecture was developed by the in-house technical team as well as engineers from Navalhead, with a focus on enhancing performance and comfort at sea in an aesthetically pleasing package.
Andrea Agrusta, head of engineering at Dominator Yachts, added that the yard has worked with Reintjes to develop a counter-rotating propeller system that will add to the smoothness of the ride.
Kalliente boasts a maximum cruising range of 1,700nm at 10 knots, drawing on a total fuel capacity of 9,000 litres, and her vital statistics include a beam of 6.72 metres and a maximum draught of just 1.3 metres.
