The Netherlands-based superyacht builder Royal Huisman announced today that it has a new major shareholder in Royal Doeksen.
The expansion of Royal Huisman's infrastructure will be a focus for Royal Doeksen Shipyard Holding, a need that is reflected in the Dutch yard's ever-growing order book for both new builds and refits. Royal Huisman recently unveiled more details of its latest superyacht project, the 58-metre Beast, in Monaco.
Royal Doeksen Shipyard Holding is investing fully in the Huisman holding comapny, which includes Royal Huisman's new-yacht builds, its Huisfit refit operations and Rondal, the mast and superyacht component manufacturer, which operates semi-autonomously from the builder and will continue to do so.
The new shareholders coming on board are also a part of a larger plan in long-term succession planning for the family owned Royal Huimsan. 'For the first time in five generations, there was no family heir of the necessary age and experience to lead a business of this scale to the next stage,' says Royal Huisman CEO Alice Huisman. 'I strongly believe that, as owners of the company today, my family and I owe it to our forefathers, to our team, and to present and future clients to ensure an orderly succession of this remarkable organisation.'
Royal Doeksen is also a Dutch family-owned business, and Doeksen Managing Director Jan Willem Doeksen will join the board of Royal Huisman. Meanwhile, Alice Huisman will continue as CEO, and Royal Huisman reports there will generally be a continuity in its managerial and operational teams, maintaining business as usual.
'We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to partner with Royal Huisman, a true industry leader and a company with a great reputation,' says Jan Willem Doeksen. 'We are fully committed to the culture, values and quality standards of the Royal Huisman brand and its focus on innovation and sustainability. We hope to work together to expand the capabilities and reach of this world-renowned custom yard. It is a great privilege for all of us on the Doeksen team to join forces with another true family company.'
