The 257-foot Great Lakes Engineering Works SS DELPHINE is the largest steam yacht built in the U.S. still in existence today.

Her original owner, Horace Dodge of the Dodge automobile fame designed SS DELPHINE’s unique quadruple-expansion steam engines, which still work today. In 1942, she was placed into naval service and renamed USS Dauntless. After the war SS DELPHINE served as a steam ship-training vessel for 18 years. Various people owned SS DELPHINE and she later was left in increasing despair.

From 1997 to 2003, SS DELPHINE underwent a massive refit and restoration. She has been returned to her former glory thanks to investigation and extensive historical research by her owner’s daughter, SS DELPHINE again is capable of sailing the seven seas. She sleeps up to 26 passengers in 13 gorgeously appointed staterooms. The interior of SS DELPHINE artfully recreates the bygone era of the roaring 20s, however, she is fully outfitted with modern amenities and communication.
