Oceanco reveals 80m Pascoli International superyacht Carinae

1 February 2024 • Written by Dea Jusufi

Oceanco has revealed the first renderings of a new, 80-metre concept designed by Pascoli International. Named after the constellation Carinae, the superyacht belongs to Oceanco's Simply Custom range, which aims to offer a new type of customisable superyacht built on a proven platform.

"Carinae was once part of a larger [constellation] called Argo Navis," explained studio founder Kristian Pascoli. "In Greek mythology, Argo was a ship built with the help of the gods to retrieve the golden fleece, and Carinae represents its hull."

Carinae's unconventional hull encompasses the main deck in order to avoid "the deck stacking and styling exercise" typical of yacht design. The concept also features a nostalgic, gallon-esque styling on its stern, with the deckhouse and funnels "drawn from the design of 1930s liners".

Pascoli added: "The Oceanco Simply Custom technical foundation fit the design well, providing a lot of flexibility as far as in-out arrangement and living spaces."

While further details are yet to be disclosed, renderings reveal a wide swim platform and glass-bottomed swimming pool aft which refracts light into the floor below.

Lateral Naval Architects is responsible for the engineering and naval architecture of the Simply Custom range, and 17 designers were invited to lend their hands to the yacht's exteriors. Interiors, meanwhile, can be heavily customised by a client, but Oceanco has shortlisted several designers who it thinks would be best suited to the projects.

The previous design revealed was Oceanco's in-house contribution Pegasus, with standout features that include a fully-private owner's deck and crow's nest.
