St Kitts has been admired from the decks of boats since the 17th century, when European traders picked it as a base from which to deal in sugar. Modern visitors come for less utilitarian reasons – picture postcard anchorages, forested mountains, warm blue waters and beaches with sand those long-ago traders could have packed up and sold as their delectable commodity. Whatever visitors want from St Kitts, they have always found life on this island sweet.
And for those who want more than just a fleeting visit, there are now opportunities to own a home – or superyacht berth – on the island’s south-east peninsula, where green mountains rise from the sea, and sandy beaches hug a gently scalloped coastline, and have direct access to a wealth of amenities, from yacht and golf clubs to resort hotels and restaurants.

A PORT IN PARADISE
Sprawled across 2,500 acres of this extraordinary landscape, between foothills and the sea, Christophe Harbour is fast becoming a choice destination for yacht owners who know the Caribbean inside-out.
It is an ideal yacht haven according to Buddy Darby, owner of the 47 metre Perini Navi superyacht Andromeda la Dea and developer of this new resort community: ‘As an avid yachtsman who travels often, I have found Christophe Harbour to be one of the most – if not the most – ideal locations for vessels of any size. The topography of St Kitts and the harbour in particular is ready-made for this type of marina. We have gentle prevailing winds, a protected entrance, safe inner harbour, direct access to both the Caribbean and Atlantic.’
Buddy Darby is CEO of Kiawah Partners and has a track record of creating similar luxury resort communities, namely Kiawah Island in South Carolina, USA and The Lodge at Doonbeg in County Clare, Ireland, but Christophe Harbour itself is unique in the Caribbean with its superyacht berthing facilities, wide range of luxury residential offerings and world-class amenities.
It is also an approved project of the Citizenship by Investment Programme offering citizenship of St Kitts and Nevis for life, with passport, dual-citizenship, full residency status, and tax exemption on foreign income. Home sweet home indeed.

The Turtle Beach Bungalows, constructed from hand-hewn logs, blend into their tropical setting
The world-renowned Turtle Beach Bungalows – four luxuriously appointed wooden beach houses with private plunge pools and cabanas – and the Beach House Restaurant already welcome guests, but much more is to come.

SUPERPORT IN THE MAKING
The centrepiece of this new port of call will be a 300-acre superyacht harbour. The world-class marina will contain 300 yacht slips, including 50 to 60 slips for yachts measuring 30 metres to over 91 metres, a yacht club and five-star concierge service for owners and guests, a captain’s lounge, dockside provisioning, CCTV security systems and night security, freshwater hookups, dockside US/European quality power up to 600A, WiFi access, in-slip fueling, repair, cleaning and maintenance services, and much more.
The marina will be a designated ‘port of entry’ for St Kitts and a customs house will be located on site, so clearing in couldn’t be easier.
Phase one of construction is in progress and more than 70 per cent of available superyacht slips are already reserved.
