New 70m superyacht Numptia for charter with Burgess

There’s a surprise in store when the 70 metre Numptia delivers shortly from the Rossi Navi shipyard in Viareggio, Italy, writes our special assignments editor Amanda McCracken.

Not only is she exactly what her owner has strived to create, she is an Italian thoroughbred. The team for the project should take the credit as this vessel is Italian style at its best with surprises around every corner. Her credentials were put together by a professional team, led by the owner’s project manager, Mr Marco Martinelli, but one that you might not have expected: naval architecture by Axis Group Yacht Design, steel hull and aluminium superstructure by Rossi Navi Shipyard; exterior design by Studio Spadolini and interior design by Design Studio Salvagni.

Suffice to say, the project has pushed each and every professional involved to the limit of their expertise. The approach to the design of the vessel, its spaces on board and the engineering take this totally custom yacht to the top level. Built into her DNA is the experience gained from previous yacht ownership by her owner, who fully understands how important it is to get the spaces right on board, not only for living comfortably but for service on board to the highest demands.

Numptia echoes timeless elegance from several eras with some deliciously eccentric twists and a unique take on deck spaces. Highlights include a spa deck with everything you would expect to find at a top resort, plus a dedicated pool and sundeck.

Having just completed sea trials and reached her cruising speed of 16 knots at half power, with a top speed of 18.6 knots, which is 2.5 knots more than predicted, she has proved her hull form is exceptionally efficient. Sea trials commenced in Force 4 conditions and it is estimated that she will have a range of 7,500nm at 12 knots.

Numptia is available for charter with Burgess this summer at weekly rates starting at €525,000 in high season and €490,000 in low season under MYBA terms.
