A trip out to sea can only ever last so long. There is always a time when a retreat to land is welcomed, and what better reason to disembark than to spend time at a personally-owned luxury holiday home?

For the avid yacht owner and charterer, having a home in one of the world’s superyacht hotspots is another way to lap up the local lifestyle and enjoy a reviving escape from a busy daily life. A company that knows this only too well is leading real estate service provider Savills, founded more than 165 years ago. Portfolio by Savills is a showcase of some of the most impressive properties in the world and provides insight into the latest trends in design and luxury living.

With expert agents placed in 600 offices across 67 countries, Savills is able to offer any client a range of services that encompass buying or selling properties. And for anyone looking for a home away from home, the Savills team has put together a selection of their top dream properties that are all conveniently placed in or nearby the world’s best superyacht marinas.

Waterfront villa in the Bay of Cap d'Antibes

As any yachtsman will know, the French Riviera is one of the best destinations for yachting, and the idyllic peninsula between Nice and Cannes is a well-sought-after spot. Cap d'Antibes is a tranquil part of the coastline surrounded by an abundance of natural scenery.

Amongst the hills are some of the region’s most prestigious estates, where occupants are able to enjoy panoramic views of the Riviera and the hundreds of boats that pass by on a daily basis. With this 484-square-metre villa now for sale exclusively with Savills, a prospective buyer will be able to move straight in and own an exceptional piece of land on the seafront surrounded by flat landscaped grounds.

Inside this three-level property lies five spacious bedrooms and five bathrooms, with two featuring private terraces that are all accessible via the indoor elevator. With plenty of space for entertaining, the elegantly-decorated home has been designed with a double reception room that opens out to a covered panoramic terrace, as well as an open dining room and kitchen area.

Listed at €13,500,000, the property is completed by an independent guest apartment, additional staff accommodation, a swimming pool and a garage for up to three cars.

Fully-refurbished apartment in Villeneuve Loubet

One of the most attractive waterfront apartments currently listed with Savills is one that overlooks the Marina Baie des Anges in the centre of the French Riviera coastline. The next occupant of this apartment will have direct access to the beach and Villeneuve Loubet’s many woodland areas and parks, all within easy reach of Nice, Monaco and Cannes – and it is this location that gives the area its privileged status. Executive director of Savills French Riviera, Alex Balkin shares that there is a great climate all year round, and it is a sociable, glamorous part of the world with plenty of peace and quiet, especially in the hills.

Sitting directly in the Residence of Marina Baie des Anges, the apartment boasts three luxurious bedrooms, two bathrooms and a total of 131 square metres. A local Savills broker will be able to elaborate more on the apartment’s 1960 architecture by André Minangoy, as well as the recent refurbishment and the addition of many refined materials. Enhanced by daylight streaming in from the large glass terrace windows and sliding doors, the apartment’s bright reception room is adjoined by the fully-equipped open kitchen. A cellar and garage are also included in the €2,100,000 asking price.

2.4-acre oasis in Southern Spain

La Reserva is the largest privately-owned residential development in Sotogrande, Spain. It’s a surprising hotspot for prospective homeowners, and Savills’ managing director based in Sotogrande, James Stewart, has reported €150 million worth of investments made to the area since 2014, including a new five-star hotel, several new restaurants and La Reserva’s country club and a man-made lagoon.

Originally a gated community, any property here is exclusive, including El Mirador, a vast house located within a select community of only five owners that operates with its own 24-hour security service. At first look, the property is a stunning example of crisp contemporary architecture that is accessed through an open courtyard of ponds and tropical trees. Listed at €21,000,000, El Mirador’s location overlooks the neighbouring golf course and lies next to a 3,744-square-metre plot that is available under separate negotiation.

The main level of El Mirador is where the TV room, study, dining room and kitchen can be found alongside a secondary prep kitchen, guest/staff study, laundry room, and alternative entrance to the four-car garage. An indoor pool that opens out onto the pristine garden and landscaped lawns is one of the property’s main features, as is the adjoining spa with a Turkish bath, Jacuzzi, sauna and showers. The new owner will also have a generous gym, a top-of-the-range cinema suite, a wine cellar and a second pool situated outdoors with a barbeque area. For even more privacy from the main four-bedroom property, there is a separate one-bedroom guest cottage.

Marina-front modern Mallorcan villa

As managing director for Savills associates Balearic Properties, Iris Grünewald, advises: Mallorca offers a great quality of life and buyers can get a lot for their money. There are wonderful mountain ranges and fantastic beaches, while the balance of the traditional and the upmarket is perfect for family life. Visitors to Mallorca may have come across Port Adriano – the upscale marina on the west side of the island designed by the French architect Philippe Starck in 2012.

As one of the most modern ports in the Mediterranean, Port Adriano is frequented by many large luxury superyachts and is home to an exclusive collection of modern waterfront villas. One such villa is now listed for sale with Savills for €9,850,000.

The four-bedroom villa can be found overlooking the marina and sea, and is within walking distance of the beach. Covering three storeys, the property gets its state-of-the-art status thanks to the smart home technology which includes reverse air-conditioning, underfloor heating and a designer-fitted kitchen with integrated appliances. There’s also a glass elevator, a gym, a sauna and a home cinema covering the lower floor.

One level up on the ground floor is where the main living areas – the dining table and lounge – can be found in an open-plan layout that leads out onto a panoramic terrace with an outstanding infinity pool. Above on the roof lies a 120-metre-square roof terrace perfectly set up for entertaining.

Monaco viewpoint apartment

Monaco is known for its network of winding streets that work their way up to the top of the hills. These streets are lined with some of the world’s most prestigious properties, one being this two bedroom apartment listed with Savills. From the high floor home and its outdoor terrace, there is a perfect view out over the Mediterranean Sea, where some of the largest superyachts can be seen making their way in and out of Monaco’s famous Port Hercules. The mountainous backdrop framing the property creates a peaceful setting, with all of the country’s hottest restaurants, bars and beaches within easy reach.

Inside the €8,250,000 apartment, a new owner will be greeted by an open-plan living room with an adjoining dining area and kitchen. Completing the property are optional parking spaces and two well-equipped bedrooms.

Endless summer house in Antigua

To get more out of the Caribbean season and enjoy the golden lifestyle all year round, buying a spot on one of the region’s most luxurious islands, Antigua, is surely the way to go. The Caribbean offers warmth and endless opportunities for golf, yachting and watersports in a paradise setting. In one of Antigua’s outstanding gated communities, The Long House, lies within an acre of natural gardens that overlook the Caribbean sea known as the Peninsula development.

Listed for sale with a guide price of $2,400,000, the four-bedroom four-bathroom villa has been designed with a spacious open concept with high vaulted ceilings. Once inside, the great room is facing the sea and opens out onto the al fresco dining terrace, tropical gardens and infinity pool.

Pristine property in Porto Montenegro

Those who regularly set off on a superyacht adventure in the Mediterranean may have reached Porto Montenegro, where the Adriatic coastline is not only stunning, but is a bustling hub of activities spanning from nature walks and divine dining to extreme sports and high-end shopping. In the centre of Porto Montenegro is the country’s first-class superyacht marina, Jetty 1, and here is where Savills is showing this three-bedroom apartment in the gated Teuta building.

Covering 201 square metres, the property is dominated by an open-plan living-dining area and two outdoor terraces. From one terrace, a prospective buyer can look over the private guest swimming pool and the second looks directly onto the marina. Listed for sale at €1,290,000, this property also comes with access to a gym and a 24-hour reception, as well as all of the existing furniture from a range of high-end brands.

Private residence and yacht dock in the Cayman Islands

Overlooking an expanse of bright blue Caribbean sea, Patricks Avenue on Patricks Island in the Caymans is home to a host of incredibly stylish private properties. One in particular comprises over 715 square metres of lush landscaped lawns and gardens and is currently listed for sale with Savills for $4,250,000.

One feature in particular that is unique to the property is the private dock surrounded by patio spaces for lounging and entertaining by the ocean and the outdoor swimming pool. Back inside, the main level of the home is dedicated to living and dining, and a custom-made bar and integrated wine refrigerators are just some of the amenities that can be found here.

In terms of accommodation, the next owner can assign themselves the oversized main bedroom, en-suite bathroom, walk-in closet and additional adjoining bedroom that can be used for anything from an office space to a baby nursery to help make the Caribbean a perfect home away from home.
