What to expect from Burgess this year

22 September 2022 • Written by Laura Nicholls for Burgess

With more than 40 years of experience in the brokerage market, Burgess’ leading team of brokers are no strangers to the highs of selling superyachts and this year, the firm has plenty to shout about…

Over €1 billion worth of superyachts

In September, Burgess brought a fleet of over 10 superyachts to the Monaco Yacht Show. The owners of these yachts have turned to Burgess for the firm’s consistently successful sales and its reputation as one of the leading brokers for yachts of all sizes.

Phoenix 2

The larger yachts on show inside Port Hercule under the care of Burgess included the 90 metre Phoenix 2, 92.4 metre Tatoosh and the 63 metre 11.11. The 55 metre Papa is a fine example of one of the many successful charter yachts that have stayed under the management of Burgess since her 2019 delivery.

During the Monaco Yacht Show, an interested buyer could see the likes of 91.5 metre Tranquility up close in either of the yacht’s two custom Hodgdon tenders, as well as the 82 metre Sarafsa – both of which were at anchor. Delivered in 2008, the brokers at Burgess say Sarafsa offers a new owner the chance to avoid the current lengthy wait time for new build yachts and own a high-calibre yacht built to Northern European standards with plenty of potential.

Escapade

A range of sizes

Burgess’ sale fleet includes vessels of all shapes and sizes, such as the 37.5 metre sailing yacht Escapade. She currently belongs to experienced owners who before building their dream custom sailing yacht with Fitzroy Yachts, spent 12 years chartering.

Escapade's broker, Henry Craven-Smith, is happy to share stories of the yacht’s travels as well as information about her extraordinary quality and designs by Dubois Naval Architects and Design Unlimited. Despite Burgess’s reputation for selling some of the world’s largest yachts, the brand is also highly successful in the sub-50 metre range. In the past five years, more than 60 per cent of Burgess’ sales were for yachts measuring under 50 metres in length.

Burgess brokers from all over the world

The company’s success is attributed to its experienced team of brokers and experts spread across the globe – who not only have the ability to offer an owner a range of first-class services in all aspects of yachting, but have insider information that is beneficial to all prospective buyers and sellers.

A fine example of a yacht that has benefitted from Burgess’ full range of services – including charter management, operational management, insurance and crew – is the 42.2 metre Emotion². After being her charter CA for many years, the Burgess team and her broker Jamie Small are well acquainted with the yacht and her market potential. Something else that Burgess brokers are urging owners to see during the show is how the one-and-only owner of the 60.4 metre Rock.It has passionately invested in her quality and condition to get her ready for her next owner.
