The Jeddah Yacht Club

This is the just-opened superyacht hotspot to be seen in this season

With a temperate climate, vivid blue waters filled with tropical fish and undiscovered sandy coves, the Red Sea has all the credentials to be an ideal superyacht destination. And now the brand-new Jeddah Yacht Club (JYC) and Marina has opened its doors, the region is all the more appealing.

The Jeddah Yacht Club is open to yachts up to 80 metres in length with berths in the middle of the Red Sea’s Asian coastline. Easily found thanks to its distinctive architecture in the shape of a ship’s sail with a 20-metre-high mast, the Jeddah Yacht Club is dominating Jeddah’s developing waterfront. The best part is, the new facility is offering yachts access to several new five-star facilities that were previously unavailable in the region.

Official access to the Kingdom

Located just over 450 nautical miles from Sharm El-Sheikh, the marina is an official Port of Entry to the Kingdom recognised by the Saudi Arabian authorities. This means the dedicated Jeddah Yacht Marina services team can provide immigration services to all visiting vessels, including foreign-flagged superyachts. Available up to 24 hours before the yacht’s arrival, everything from visas and passenger information to flag process and customs paperwork can be taken care of.

Brand-new facilities

From the moment guests step onto the dock, there are plenty of local attractions to be discovered. The Jeddah Yacht Club has also gone above and beyond to provide a selection of notable benefits for visitors. There are several high-end retail stores dotted along the dock, including the JYC Boutique and a five-star hotel for any guests that can’t be accommodated on board. There are also multiple dining options, such as Marina Social which is run by Michelin-star chef Jason Atherton. For something a bit more lively, the open-air beach club features a temperature-controlled infinity pool with regular DJ performances.

Another spectacular feature is the dedicated Wellness Centre, where the gym and spa offer breath-taking views over the Red Sea and the marina. In the fitness suite, guests will find modern equipment and airy studios for activities such as yoga and HIIT. There are also personal trainers on hand and specialist beauticians that can provide a full range of treatments. The perfect way to round off an hour or two here would be with a relaxing treatment in the JYC Hamman. In the meantime, the crew can visit the specialist gym just for their use.

Sports fans will recognise the marina’s surroundings as the Corniche F1 circuit, which hosted the inaugural Saudi Arabian Grand Prix last year. Others will be captivated by the nearby Al Rahma Mosque. With 53 domes, the famed mosque, better known as the floating mosque, is positioned on stilts over the sea opposite the Jeddah Yacht Club. This view can be appreciated best from the Jeddah Yacht Club’s peaceful Riva Sky Lounge, or the specialist Cigar Lounge with a cigar from the state-of-the-art humidor in hand.

Take a lesson from the pros

A unique offering of the Jeddah Yacht Marina is the opportunity to have on-the-water adventures away from your berthed superyacht. Thanks to the JYC Academy, the marina has facilities for guests to book almost any water sport, including kayaking, diving, fishing and boating.

For the younger guests, the Jeddah Yacht Club is home to the youth-focused sailing school, the Jeddah Academy. Launched in partnership with the Saudi Sailing Federation, spearheaded by CEO Samia Bagdady, and Hassan AlKabbani, president of the Federation, the Academy benefits from a team of professional sailing staff who have curated an exciting sailing programme, designed to create the next generation of elite Saudi sailors.

Special access for non-owners

For those looking for a taste of what the region has to offer without visiting on their own yacht, the Jeddah Yacht Club has invested in a beautiful Navetta 3 which is available to be booked for day trips or an overnight itinerary. Destinations such as the pristine islands Kadampal, Marka, Samar and Farasan, which are all neighboured by bustling coral reefs with white sand beaches are all nearby.

The Jeddah Yacht Club also aspires to be the first green marina in the region. Their ambition is to achieve the highest possible certification for sustainability, under the supervision of a skilled Marina Manager Colin Ralph.
