The top superyachts to charter during the Middle East event season

6 June 2022 • Written by Laura Nicholls for Camper & Nicholsons

The Middle East is fast becoming a superyacht destination to rival the more traditional cruising destination of the Caribbean. This year, the packed programme – which includes the FIFA World Cup in Qatar (from 21 November), Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix (17-20 November) and SailGP in Dubai (12-13 November) – will prove an even bigger lure to visiting yachts. While most of the events take place on land, having a superyacht as an after-party destination or home base – particularly when other accommodation options are hard to find – will make the experience even more mind-blowing.

To take in some of the world’s top sporting events from the comfort of a superyacht, Camper & Nicholsons has a fleet of standout superyachts that are ready to charter throughout the Middle East this winter. Here, their team of expert brokers reveal three of the top charter yachts available and explain why they are perfect hosts.

Tranquility

91.5m Tranquility

Already known as a popular choice amongst celebrities such as Kylie Jenner, Tranquility is available for charter bookings during this year’s SailGP, Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix and FIFA World Cup. For those looking to attend these events, Tranquility’s spacious aft deck and two helipads can transform into ideal viewing decks. From here, guests of SailGP, for example, can watch in awe as the competitors – including hydro foiling F50 catamarans – race across the water at speeds of up to 100 km/h.

With accommodation for up to 22 overnight guests and a galley with three first-class chefs, Tranquility has all the amenities needed to host as many sports enthusiasts as possible. Moving guests from deck to shore will also be seamless thanks to the yacht’s fleet of tenders and helipads.

With cryptocurrency payments via BitPay also an option, Tranquility can be chartered from €1,100,000 per week.

Saluzi

69m Saluzi

Saluzi is not only one of the largest superyachts based in Asia during the winter months, but she is also one of the most eye-catching. Named after an ancient Chinese tale, Saluzi’s exterior is decorated with modern artwork depicting her namesake. With such colourful looks, Saluzi’s presence at the FIFA World Cup in Doha, Qatar will not go unnoticed.

During the FIFA World Cup, she will be berthed in Pearl Marina and there is the possibility to host up to 150 guests on board in port with sufficient catering from the team of chefs and 34 crew to make the occasion one to remember. For something even more unforgettable, the crew can transform the main deck’s dining room into a professional karaoke lounge.

Saluzi’s deck spaces are large enough to house 32 guests in 16 staterooms, as well as an office, an open-air cinema and a spa. With such a selection of versatile areas, Saluzi can cater for anything from entertaining on a grand scale, to a fun holiday with family and friends.

For those who are lucky enough to be on board for the World Cup final, why not extend the trip and go beach hopping in the Persian Gulf. Saluzi's shallow draft means she can get up close to any coral-studded bays and the stunning shorelines of Asia with ease.

With cryptocurrency payments via BitPay also an option, Saluzi can be chartered from €480,000 per week.

Burkut

54m Burkut

Bring Italian chic to the Middle East, with the classic Baglietto superyacht Burkut. With a berth in Pearl Marina for the entire World Cup, the family-friendly superyacht may stand out from the crowd with her navy hull and white superstructure but the yacht allows guests to enjoy their time in private away from the crowds. Once guests are on board there are two large saloons with Fendi furniture, as well as a formal dining area where guests can gather out of view. The yacht also has a luxury spa complete with a Hammam, sauna and treatment rooms, plus an onboard beauty therapist.

During the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix, SailGP or the FIFA World Cup, Burkut can get geared up to host a pre-race party on the bridge deck. Inside the saloon, a pianist can take to the piano and play while guests arrive. Here, a five-star meal can be served at the outdoor table, with speciality drinks being mixed at the nearby bar. After the event, guests can retire to one of the five luxurious staterooms.

With cryptocurrency payments via BitPay also an option, Burkut can be chartered from $245,000 per week.
