Swedish marina specialist SF Group has announced an ambitious new superyacht marina development in Panama called Port Amador, marking a significant expansion into the Central American market.
Positioned at the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal, the project is set to transform the Amador Causeway into a major new hub for superyacht activity in the Eastern Pacific. The announcement comes as SF Group's Anguilla marina project, Port Nimara, gears up for launch in 2027.
The new Panama marina will feature more than 350 deep-water berths for yachts over 120 metres, supported by SF Marina’s floating dock systems - technology widely used in high-profile superyacht destinations worldwide.
The development signals a growing focus on Panama as a strategic base for global cruising. Located just minutes from Panama City and within easy reach of two international airports with private aviation access, Port Amador will offer direct connectivity to both the Pacific and Atlantic via the Canal, enabling yachts to move between oceans from a single home port.
According to the developers, the project has been designed to meet increasing demand for large-yacht infrastructure in the region. Alongside berthing facilities, plans include a boutique hotel, waterfront residences, retail and dining, as well as the first Pacific outpost of the Beaufort Yacht Club.
The marina will also incorporate high-capacity fuelling, shore power, maintenance services and on-site customs and immigration clearance, aligning it with international superyacht standards. Security measures will include ISPS compliance, controlled access and 24-hour surveillance.
The development reflects a wider shift in cruising patterns, as owners increasingly look beyond traditional Mediterranean and Caribbean circuits. With access to destinations such as the Galápagos Islands, Central America’s Pacific coast and longer expedition routes to Alaska and Patagonia, Panama is emerging as a gateway to more remote cruising grounds.
Construction timelines have yet to be fully disclosed, but the project underscores SF Group's continued global expansion and highlights Panama’s growing role in the future of superyacht cruising.
