Founded in 1994 by accomplished yachtsman Luca Bassani, Wally needs no introduction. The avant-garde Italian brand has announced the latest development in its beloved wallywhy range – the wallywhy100, an entry-level model that claims to challenge the genre of the classic coupé.

“Whilst beautiful and sleek, traditional coupés do not offer the comfort and liveability that today’s owners expect from their boats,” explains Wally’s managing director Stefano de Vivo. “In the same way, larger and more voluminous boats generally don’t offer speed or usage flexibility. This leaves owners with a tough choice: do they want to compromise on comfort or performance?”

Fulfilling the need for a more voluminous cruiser in the sub-21-metre range, the wallywhy100 combines all the qualities of an 18-metre coupé boat with the benefits of Wally’s signature volume. BOAT takes a closer look…

Futuristic, streamlined exteriors

Masterminded by the renowned Wally-Ferretti Group Engineering team, the wallywhy100 sports a futuristic exterior derived from functionality. A prime example is the model’s closed cockpit which, pushed far forward, shapes the vessel’s streamlined profile while also creating abundant onboard living space. This symbiotic relationship between style and practicality is emphasised by a tall, imposing reversed bow, guaranteeing a dry and safe ride in all weather conditions.

Multipurpose, functional layouts

The wallywhy100 sets itself apart from others in its size bracket by doubling down on a one-level, stern-to-bow design. Instead of creating the illusion of space with different levels, this model embraces and optimises the space given with an open-plan, hybrid area on the main deck level. Those onboard can enjoy the area closed and comfortable in more temperamental weather, or fully open for al fresco, waterside dining.

With versatility as the yacht’s focus, the wallywhy100 also features a dedicated, transformable lounge that can be converted into an aperitivo area with an elevated table or, alternatively, into a sun lounge by lowering the table to seating height.

State-of-the-art interiors

Stepping into Studio A. Vallicelli’s contemporary interiors, the full-beam master cabin is characterised by curved architectural lines, a gentle colour palette and warm, integrated lighting. Another first for a sub-21-metre yacht, the ensuite is fitted with state-of-the-art, electrically regulated glass. The glass walls can be made opaque for greater privacy or left fully transparent to enlarge the room when not in use. The wide array of wardrobe space and storage also make this cabin unique in its class, with the side windows offering uninterrupted views of the outside. The wallywhy100 can sleep up to six guests across three cabins, including a VIP cabin port and a twin starboard. These feature dedicated ensuites and large windows, flooding the living areas with natural light.

Another feature seldom seen in this size bracket is dedicated crew access, provided both from the main deck and from the lower deck without having to cross into guest spaces.

A beautiful beach paradise

The wallywhy100’s showpiece is its 14-square-metre beach area, equipped with folding wings that expand the space by 50 per cent when unfolded. Providing users with clear, 180-degree ocean views, the area is kitted out with additional amenities such as a hydraulic passarelle for dock and water access and a large hydraulic platform able to launch and retrieve tenders and toys of up to 3.6 metres in length. There are also dedicated spots for sun-soaking, including fixed sun pads and plush day loungers.

A smooth and comfortable cruising experience

In terms of propulsion, Wally has opted for a trusted and proven twin D13 Volvo IPS configuration for the wallywhy100. The model has an impressive cruising speed of 24 knots and a maximum speed of more than 27 knots in the upgraded IPS1350 specs. Thanks to her joystick system and an array of high-end Volvo Penta technologies, the wallywhy100 offers an easy and smooth navigating experience, making her ideal for owners who prefer to operate the yacht themselves.
