According to YACHTFOLIO, Marquise is the world’s most popular charter yacht, with an average of 15 charter weeks booked per year across the last nine years. BOAT takes a closer look to discover what keeps her at the top…
Few charter yachts have the kind of reputation that Marquise commands. Built by Australian shipyard Austal in 2004 and penned by Miami-based studio Luiz de Basto Designs, the 72-metre aluminium-hulled superyacht has long been a favourite among elite charterers – and now, following an extensive 2025 refit, she’s better than ever.
From a brand-new beach club to immersive yacht-wide tech, every inch of Marquise has been designed for effortless living. Her 2025 refit has brought her back to like-new condition, including a full hull repaint, upgraded AV integration with Crestron, new iPads for guests, four additional flat-screen TVs and three state-of-the-art karaoke systems. Additionally, the new YachtEye system means guests can access everything from radar and menus to crew profiles and real-time itineraries at the tap of a screen.
Inside, the yacht’s styling blends the best of both worlds: a traditional nautical aesthetic defined by gleaming silver pillars and classic round windows, paired with a light, modern palette of woods, creams and leathers curated by Beirut-based design studio Askdeco. Expanses of floor-to-ceiling glass flood the interior with natural light, while new furniture brings a fresh, modern living experience throughout.
With accommodation for up to 28 guests across 14 cabins, Marquise is uniquely positioned to cater to large groups or multigenerational holidays. The bridge deck is reserved almost entirely for the primary charterer, featuring a sprawling master suite complete with an en suite bathroom, walk-in wardrobe and private office. Aft, the "owner's lounge" opens onto an intimate deck - an idyllic spot for coffee at sunrise or cocktails at dusk.
The rest of the guest accommodation is made up of two executive suites and four VIP staterooms on the upper deck, plus five doubles and two twins on the main deck, all en suite with Aesop bath products.
With a crew of 29 accommodated on the lower deck and a separate staff cabin on the main deck, guests can benefit from a one-to-one crew-to-guest ratio for a genuine seven-star charter experience. "The majority of the crew are longstanding," says charter manager Daphne Tsevdos of Yachtsman Ltd. "Hotel manager Gregory is one of the most seasoned pros in the industry, and Chef Aris is outstanding, to the point that guests routinely end up cancelling multiple Michelin-starred reservations, instead opting to dine on board."
Marquise is well equipped to deliver an exceptional culinary experience. The main saloon features a striking sit-up bar, flanked by two formal dining areas, while a huge al fresco dining space on the upper aft deck offers the perfect setting for summer dinners beneath the stars. Menus are curated around guest preferences and can range from fresh Mediterranean fare to elaborate tasting menus.
One of Marquise’s greatest assets is her vast outdoor space. The 300-square-metre sundeck has become a signature feature, ideal for wellness sessions, parties or sunbathing, complete with a mini pool and brand-new umbrellas. On the lower deck, the new beach club opens out onto a large swim platform – a launch pad for water sports galore. Guests can take their pick of jet skis, flyboards, foil boards, Seabobs, inflatables, fishing equipment and even yacht golf. The yacht’s 11.5-metre Axopar chase boat and 7.2-metre Cobra tender make for easy shore excursions.
When it’s time to retreat indoors, guests can enjoy movie nights in complete comfort in the private cinema, while a fully equipped gym allows fitness routines to continue uninterrupted. There’s also a full-service spa area with a hamam, massage room and hair salon - ideal for those seeking a little extra pampering between swim sessions and sunset soirées.
Powered by twin MTU 1,072 hp engines, Marquise cruises at 12.5 knots with a top speed of 14 knots and a range of 1,500 nautical miles. Quantum stabilisers keep the vessel steady both at anchor and underway, ensuring comfort wherever she roams.
Marquise is available year-round, with summer cruising in the East and West Mediterranean, and winter charters in the UAE, Seychelles and Maldives. Despite her iconic status, she remains, as Tsevdos puts it, “very competitively priced”, with weekly rates from €550,000.
