Lynx Yachts launches the first YXT 24 Evolution

13 November 2018

After being sold to an American client in May 2017, the first YXT 24 Evolution support vessel by Lynx Yachts hit the water at the yard’s Nijkerk facility on October 19, 2018. The second 24 metre support vessel and the fourth yacht to be built by Lynx since its foundation in 2011, the YXT 24 Evolution features exterior design by Bernd Wheel, naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design and interior design by Darnet Design.

As with all Lynx Yachts projects, the YXT 24 Evolution is the result of close collaboration with the owner and the dedication of the team at Lynx to help him achieve his quest for adventures at sea. An experienced and passionate sailor with a keen interested in surfing, wakeboarding and water sports in general, the owner’s brief was for a support vessel that would carry all his water toys as well as allowing him to have fun on board with his guests. In particular, the owner requested that space be provided for all toys to be stored below deck so that the YXT’s spacious main deck could transform into an area for playing basketball, watching movies or enjoying a barbecue with friends – much like a private terrace at sea.

This combination of knowledgeable owner and experienced builder has resulted in a superyacht that more than meets expectations. This can be seen clearly in the YXT 24 Evolution’s layout which takes into account the owner’s lifestyle with a multi-functional lazarette which boasts a gym overlooking the ocean that leads directly onto the beach platform. With the large stern hatch open this space is flooded with natural light and, when it is closed, the beach platform and its wide steps up to the main deck become the perfect viewing spot for watching those out on the water.

The YXT 24 Evolution’s storage capacity is paid testament to by the Land Rover Defender which the owner has opted to keep on deck while accommodation is offered for three guests in en suite cabins perfect as surplus guest suites or for personal trainers and surf instructors. With 75 square metres of deck space and plenty of room for toys, tenders and equipment for both land and sea, the YXT 24 Evolution is the perfect shadow vessel for adventurous owners with a love of sports and exploration.

“It has been a pleasure to work with this client,” says Filippo Rossi, sales and marketing manager at Lynx Yachts. “His passion for yachting and for the sea is infectious. He knows exactly how he wants to use his YXT and this has helped us to adapt the vessel for him. At Lynx Yachts, we are committed to detail and quality. Everything we do is centred on the user experience, meaning that this fantastic yacht is completely tailor-made to suit the needs and wishes of her owner. We are really proud of the result of this project; it shows the true flexibility of the YXT platform and the levels of customisation we can achieve.”

Conceived as a 20-40 metre production series with both motor and sailing options, the YXT range was designed deliberately to set itself apart from the rest of Lynx’s cruising yachts and should be capable of both providing extra support and space to a mothership or acting as a rugged explorer vessel in its own right. Considered by Lynx president Slim Bouricha to be the future of superyachting, rather than a passing trend, Lynx has invested in building YXT models both in series and on-spec with each yacht completely customisable to the owner’s needs.

Built to stringent construction, transportation, material and operating guidelines, each YXT guarantees world-class quality and can allow an owner to double, or even triple, storage space on board creating room not only for toys, tenders, helicopters and cars, but also for extra guests or crew and amenities such as professional spa, gym and galley.

“The main reason for owning a shadow vessel is really to unleash the potential of the main yacht and to considerably enhance the owners or guests yachting experience,” says Lynx president Slim Bouricha. “More and more, owners and charterers are demanding a greater choice of toys and tenders. The variations are endless, whether we are carrying nautical tenders or cars, buggies or motorcycles… even extra accommodation. These YXTs are also economical to acquire and operate making them a much more viable option that upsizing the main yacht!”
