There has been much fanfare surrounding Nordhavn’s latest addition to its range of ocean explorers. Filling a sought-after spot between the US-based builder’s smaller N76 and much larger N86 models, it is easy to see why.
“We really wanted to fill a void. Our 76 does not have a formal crew arrangement and you have a lot of people who want crew but don’t want to jump to our 86. This gives them the option to bring a crew and not take up a guest cabin,” explains Pacific Asian Enterprises (PAE)'s Chief of Design, Jeff Leishman.
The Nordhavn 80 has an impressive beam of 7.11 metres and four decks that extend to over 24 metres. But it is not just her liberal dimensions and robust exterior that catch the eye. In a newly-released virtual walkthrough, we get a closer glimpse at the Nordhavn 80 in Florida showing off her interiors developed by both her buyer and producers Pacific Asian Enterprises.
Though the design of any future units may be altered at the discretion of any would-be owner, the interiors featured on the first Nordhavn 80’s recent walkthrough showcase a family-friendly aesthetic.
Those interiors are ones executed in a more traditional style with a palette of dark woods and neutral furnishings featured alongside various patterned decorations. Colour schemes champion creams with pastel accents, which are dotted throughout; as are darker, earthier fabrics paired in complementary combinations of browns, peaches and nudes. Wooden panels add depth and texture to cabins and the yacht’s saloon, and marble walling in the boat’s bathrooms provide open, elegant spaces, in even the most intimate corners of the first Nordhavn 80.
In full, the yacht is home to three large guest cabins on the lower deck alongside a laundry room, an owner’s cabin with a king-size bed on the main deck and a spacious main saloon and formal dining room connected to a galley, and an upper deck saloon adjacent to the wheelhouse. On the flybridge, guests will find a hot tub with a tender and crane located on the bridge deck. This marks an impressive selection of spaces for a yacht that also has the technical prowess and storage areas crucial for long-range cruising.
Powered by twin 375hp John Deere engines, the Nordhavn 80 is also available in a selection of alternative layout options, including a captain’s cabin behind the bridge or upper-level owner’s suite behind the bridge in lieu of the sky lounge. “We have the capability of doing anything from a more traditional to more modern look and create what the buyer wants,” Leishman explained, adding that interiors can be visualised at PAE’s office using VR goggles for a realistic view of what the finished yacht will look like.
