We are passionate about the saving the oceans, and so is Y.CO. Earlier this year Y.CO was a big supporter of our first edition of The Ocean Awards – our exclusive event celebrating those who made outstanding contributions to protecting the oceans.
Y.CO’s contribution towards saving the oceans doesn’t stop there: alongside an extensive CSR programme that supports countless charitable initiatives, there’s one designed to help save the oceans. Y.CO’s YACHT.CLUB invites professionals within the superyacht industry to sign up to a charity membership, and passes the full subscription fee onto ocean conservation charity Blue Marine Foundation.
We asked some of our esteemed guests at The Ocean Awards to tell us what they were doing to save the oceans. You can see their answers in the video below:
“I’ve been trying to do my bit to help save the oceans by ensuring that we have a much larger marine protected areas,” said Oliver Letwin M.P, who was handed an award at the event for his convincing the British Government to create a MPA around Pitcairn. Blue Marine Foundation was involved in the process, which Chairman Charles Clover highlights in the video.
Sir Ben Ainslie explained: “With our America’s Cup team Land Rover BAR, we’re working in conjunction with Eleventh hour racing, which is a foundation set up to bring awareness to the issues of pollution and to really try and create a more sustainable environment.”
“This year, celebrating our 30 years of yacht design, we are going to ride to Monaco the week before the boat show to raise half a million pounds for Blue Marine,” said Andrew Winch.
