Inside one of Codecasa’s largest yachts: 65m Double Down

12 April 2021 By Burgess

Delivered in 2010, the 65.2-metre yacht Double Down is one of the largest yachts ever built by the renowned Italian shipyard Codecasa. At an impressive 1,278 GT, she has five spacious guest decks along with a standout accommodation plan for up to 20 guests and 19 crew – all of which give her a prominent position on the market as one of the latest yachts for sale with Burgess.

Before she is snapped up by a lucky new owner, we take the chance to take a look further on board at her grand features and ability to keep a high number of guests happily entertained in some of the world’s most beautiful locations.

Perfect amenities

Being welcomed aboard Double Down is a special moment as guests are ushered through the main deck aft entrance straight into the grand piano lounge. Here, within the main saloon among the grandeur, the crew will offer refreshments and a tour of the yacht’s five decks. Designed for socialising and relaxation, Double Down boasts a fine range of facilities, including a large swim platform to the stern as well as a fun karaoke set-up, a beautiful drinks bar, a gymnasium and an elegant dining room for sumptuous evening feasts.

Up on the bridge deck, the space doubles as an entertainment area with a cinema and a Jacuzzi lounge towards the aft complete with sunpads and another bar. An outdoor lounge complements the winter garden on the upper deck aft, and the sun deck provides additional sunpads and loungers.

Full-on toy store

To complete her status as a perfect host, Double Down comes with a fully-stocked toy store ideal for active owners or for those who simply enjoy relaxing on the water. Guests can make use of her towables, Jet skis, fishing and snorkelling gear, and sailing and windsurfing facilities. Plus, as part of her aquapark range, an inflatable slide and trampoline offer fun ways to splash into the ocean, while paddleboards and kayaks make for a calmer afternoon. On hand to help whisk guests to shore, Double Down is accompanied by a seven-metre Castoldi Jet Tender with a 315hp diesel engine.

Impressive refit

Since her delivery in 2010, Double Down and her five decks have been kept flawless. In 2016, Evan K Marshall took to refreshing her original interior as part of extensive refit works that also included a repaint and engine maintenance. Then, in 2019, Gerard's Skaf Group updated the interiors once again to feature new artwork, modern-day amenities and gorgeous new deck furniture.

Exclusive owner’s deck

Accessible via the yacht’s integrated elevator, the entire upper deck is dedicated to the owner’s private use and includes a full-beam bedroom suite, study, terrace and a lounge with a bar and games table. Aft is a wonderful winter garden offering dining for up to 18 guests no matter the weather; guests can choose between al fresco dining or an enclosed, climate-controlled space, shielded from the elements by glass panels.

Up to 19 additional guests are housed in eight staterooms, seven of which are split between the main and lower decks, with a VIP cabin on the owner’s deck. With their decadent furnishings, en suite bathrooms and comfortable lounging areas, each stateroom offers all those onboard a sweet retreat after a thrilling day at sea.

Top crew

Lead by experienced Captain Jamie Small, Double Down’s exceptional crew of 19 not only know their way around the yacht and keep her running beautifully, but can put together an outstanding programme of activities for all those onboard time and time again. As regulars in the Mediterranean, Caribbean and Bahamas, Double Down and her crew know how to make the most of a superyacht experience in some of the most stunning locations around the world.

As part of this experience, the crew optimise the yacht’s ability to perform efficiently and comfortably thanks to her Quantum zero speed stabilisers and twin 2,448hp Caterpillar engines. Being comfortable on board while at anchor or underway is important, especially at speeds of up to 18 knots. However, travelling at 12 knots is better suited to make the most of her transoceanic range of 6,000 nautical miles. She’s a true global cruiser capable of taking her new owners wherever they may please – without having to refuel.
