In an unforeseen reversal on Monday (24 July), the City Commission of West Palm Beach voted to terminate a $16 million marina project amid growing opposition from the local community.
According to the West Palm Beach Downtown Neighborhood Association, the development proposal from City Harbor Marinas included 84 slips for yachts up to 46 metres in length, a new marina office building and a loading area. Previous estimates shared by the City Commission had said the new marina would generate $324,000 annually for the city.
