France’s superyacht ban: How likely is it to happen?

 A proposed  bill to ban superyachts from French waters and ports has triggered a wave of criticism, with industry figures pointing to the sector’s contribution to the French economy and employment.  Others have warned that owners and operators could simply take their business elsewhere, potentially benefiting competing yachting hubs such as Genoa.

French lawmakers from the left-wing political party La France Insoumise (LFI) proposed a private member's bill in July that would prohibit privately operated yachts measuring 50 metres or more from accessing French seaports, using berths or remaining in the country's territorial waters. But how much of this proposal is genuinely viable? And have some critically important elements of the draft, that could be beneficial, been overlooked by an industry in uproar?
