Just a few days are left to take part in an industry-wide survey that is set to identify skills and diversity gaps in the superyacht industry.
Launched by shoreside marine recruitment agency Superyacht Recruiter, in collaboration with BOAT International, the People and Skills survey will gather answers from across all sectors of the industry, including brokers, shipyards, management and designers.
Closing on Tuesday May 17, the survey will have a special focus on diversity and will gather information across metrics including race, gender, age, skills and salary information.

Speaking about his decision to launch the survey, Superyacht Recruiter CEO Ed Ewer said “little focus” had so far been “directed towards the shoreside aspect of luxury yachting”, while plenty of surveys had been directed towards “all aspects of superyacht crew”.
This survey will therefore offer the opportunity to survey the “designers, naval architects, brokers and builders” that comprise the industry, as well as “the supply chain associated with the build of large yachts”.
He added that the aim of the survey is “to provide concrete data and information in regard to salary benchmarking and industry diversity data”. It will also investigate “the adaptation of the industry to new methods of marketing and to understand the change that may be required for the sector to remain appealing to both those within it and those considering entry.”
He encouraged “as many as possible across the industry” to take part, describing the survey as a “crucial project”.
The People and Skills survey, presented by Superyacht Recruiter in collaboration with BOAT International, will close on May 17. The survey accepts anonymous answers from employees working across the industry. To take part, click here.
