History of Riva Yachts
In 1842, Pietro Riva founded the Riva shipyard on Lake Iseo in Sarnico, Italy. The family-owned shipyard began by building commercial boats. By 1920, Serafino Riva had steered the shipyard towards pleasure boats. Riva also built and campaigned race boats, winning many trophies in the 1920s and 1930s. After Carlo Riva introduced the iconic wooden Riva Aquarama sportboat 1950s, luxury yacht builder Riva became world-famous. In 1969, Riva began building in fibreglass, maintaining its yachts’ elegant styling. The Ferretti Group acquired Riva in 2000, giving the shipyard the infrastructure required to build larger yachts and superyachts.
