When Agnetha, the latest 55-metre from Heesen’s Steel series, launched earlier this year, she joined a fleet of 10 sisterships already on the water. While each of these yachts is a unique masterpiece, they all share a common foundation of impeccable engineering and bespoke craftsmanship perfected over time. With her fast displacement hull, full-beam owner’s suite, generous guest spaces and expansive decks, she embodies a tried-and-tested layout beloved by experienced superyacht owners.
Yet despite belonging to one of Heesen’s most successful series, Agnetha is set to debut a dramatically different look - a refreshed interior by the team at Luca Dini Design & Architecture that proves how subtle updates can completely reimagine a yacht’s character.
Currently for sale and available for private viewings in Cap d’Ail during the Monaco Yacht Show, Agnetha offers buyers a box-fresh superyacht that is ready to enjoy immediately.
A new philosophy inspired by a superyacht owner
The redesign came at a pivotal moment for Heesen. Following the acquisition of the shipyard by a Dutch entrepreneur and experienced superyacht owner, a new philosophy for the future of the brand emerged, and it began with Agnetha. The new approach was inspired by the owner's insights from his own life at sea, which provided a fresh direction for the yacht's interiors.
"He wanted the yachts to feel more like living on the sea," explains Silvia Margutti of Luca Dini Design & Architecture. "When we met with him, he shared some of his ideas. At that stage, Agnetha was nearing completion, so the changes he proposed focused on loose elements: decoration, freestanding furniture, artwork, and similar details.”
The structural and fixed elements of the yacht remained untouched. Instead, the Heesen project team worked with colour, textiles, furniture and artworks to inject a new sense of life into the yacht. The result demonstrates the power of detail. "Simply by changing the loose elements on board, a yacht can be completely transformed, its character and personality refreshed in countless ways,” says Margutti.
Bringing vibrancy to a timeless foundation
Among the 10 55-metre Steel series superyachts, Agnetha is perhaps the most "discreet and timeless", according to Margutti. But the shipyard's new philosophy called for pushing her further. "We introduced fresh colours, modern furniture shapes, and sea-inspired tones of aqua, light blue and celadon,” she says. “But, like the original design, she remains timeless - a canvas for any future owner to imprint their own style.”
To achieve this, the Heesen project team and Margutti collaborated with a network of leading suppliers. "We engaged a wide range of brands to create a new look for Agnetha,” she notes. Paola Lenti and Molteni produced bespoke furniture, while Lasvit crafted a striking chandelier for the saloon. Frette linens now dress the cabins and bathrooms, Glancy Fawcett supplied tableware and Technogym provided equipment for the sundeck. Here, wellness was a key consideration, with the gym complemented by yoga mats, lanterns and two large stone Buddhist sculptures, alongside the Jacuzzi, sun loungers and bar.
The approach combined residential-level luxury with the technical needs of a yacht. "For the interiors, we’ve selected beautiful luxury furniture that could just as easily belong in a private residence or a high-end hospitality space. On deck, however, we chose yacht furniture with vital technical features,” says Margutti.
Spaces reimagined for modern living
Each of Agnetha’s key social spaces has been imbued with a new personality while retaining the shipyard’s successful layout. The main deck saloon now feels relaxed and lounge-like with puffy chairs. The skylounge has been transformed into a cosy retreat for family time, complete with a bespoke rug that marries caramel and aquamarine tones.
The vision, Margutti explains, was to align with the shipyard's concept of how a modern owner would live on board. “The philosophy is to live fully on board: to have a proper place to take calls or work, somewhere to meet friends, to host parties, to exercise, to spend time with family or watch a movie. The furniture therefore needed both style and versatility.”
That philosophy led to the introduction of flexible and inviting furniture: comfortable sofas for entertaining and relaxing, large dining tables paired with chairs from Edra and Paola Lenti, and a Poltrona Frau desk and executive chair for working at sea. "Together they create an atmosphere where one can truly enjoy living aboard,” Margutti says.
Heesen's in-house expertise makes it happen
This entire interior refresh was a fast-moving, collaborative project, completed in just three months. A crucial element was Heesen's own in-house interior engineering and manufacturing factory, which allowed the team to manufacture handcrafted outdoor tables in an extremely short timeframe, ensuring no detail was overlooked.
The Heesen project team is now overseeing the installation of a final, curated art collection, which adds a layer of sophistication and personality to the refreshed interiors. This is the last step before Agnetha is truly turnkey. Captain Mike Rouse and his crew have completed the yacht’s maiden voyage from the Netherlands to the South of France. They encountered foul weather and heavy seas. The experience proved Agnetha's mettle - she was stirred, not shaken - and is now fully tested and ready to welcome her new owner aboard.
"Agnetha embarked on her maiden voyage from Holland to Monaco, navigating a full spectrum of weather conditions - from calm seas to challenging swells," notes Rouse. "Under expert crew management, the yacht was thoroughly tested across multiple sea states and performed exceptionally well. Her sea-keeping ability was impressive, maintaining stability and comfort throughout. The vessel passed through critical maritime routes with confidence, showcasing Heesen’s engineering excellence. From propulsion to onboard systems, everything operated flawlessly. This delivery not only proved the yacht’s resilience but also affirmed her readiness for luxury cruising. A remarkable debut for a world-class superyacht.
In her renewed form, Agnetha embodies Heesen’s signature craftsmanship while embracing the fresh vision of the shipyard's new philosophy. "This is a yacht for an experienced owner who is young at heart, in tune with the times, and surrounded by a family spanning several generations,” says the Heesen project team. “The overall effect is distinctive, full of character and personality that reflects a shared vision. It points to the direction the shipyard intends to take: bringing together the best expertise and infusing a forward-thinking approach as an entrepreneur.”
