The 38.4-metre Jongert staysail schooner Gloria has been sold with Manfred Haas of Haas International representing the seller and Barney Sandeman of Sandeman Yacht Company introducing the buyer.
Originally delivered by the Dutch yard in 1986, Gloria was designed by Pieter Beeldsnijder as a tribute to the 1936 Mylne schooner Panda. Her steel hull and mahogany-clad aluminium superstructure with aluminium masts speak to a golden age of sailing, yet her refit at Pendennis Shipyard between 2011 and 2012 ensured she was restored to modern sailing standards
Her broker notes that she has been "continually upgraded" and is "now fully modernised while preserving her classic charm".
Her interiors, penned by Lowland, feature glossy mahogany joinery and skylights to invite in natural light. The spacious main saloon features two lounge areas with curved built-in sofas and a piano, as well as a formal dining area sitting directly under a skylight.
Accommodation aboard the sailing yacht is for eight guests across four en suite cabins. The owner's cabin houses a large bed positioned in the centre with sofas on either side and an elegant library wall. Further provisions have been made for a crew of six.
Outdoor, Gloria's cockpit and deck saloon offer ample entertainment areas with panoramic ocean views. A U-shaped sofa and game table populate the deck saloon beside the helm, while the cockpit sits under an optional awning and provides seating and a table for al fresco dining.
The schooner's deck space is expansive with room to store her tender, various water toys and loungers to sunbathe. An awning, stretching from bow to stern, can shade the deck should the owner desire it.
With hydraulically furled sails, a steel hull with transatlantic and racing credentials and a fully upgraded rig and deck, her broker notes that Gloria is charter-ready.
She is powered by a Caterpillar diesel engine and can reach a top speed of 12 knots. Her internal volume is 103GT while her beam is 6.8 metres.
Lying in Antibes, France, Gloria was last asking €2,600,000.
