Gary Goldman at Allied Marine asks me to broadcast a $225,000 price reduction on his listing for sale, the 30.48m sailing yacht Spirit of the East.

Built by Turkish yard Aegean Yacht Services in steel with naval architecture by Stuart M Roy, she was delivered in 2006 and embarked on her first cruising season in 2007. A custom cruising ketch, she has a large saloon with settees, a retractable television, wet bar and dining area. Al fresco dining is available on the aft deck under a Bimini top with seating for 10 guests. Accommodation is for 10 guests in five spacious cabins. The master suite has a king sized bed and there are a further two doubles and two twins, all with en suite facilities.

The powerful ketch rig features high-tech sails and running rigging controlled by Harken hydraulic winches and headsail furling systems for ease of operation. Under power, a 320hp Caterpillar engine gives her a cruising speed of 9 knots.

A distress sale, Spirit of the East is down from $1,949,000 to $1,724,900.
