Dutch builder Vanquish Yachts has launched its 24 metre custom VQ80 sportfish. The vessel will serve as a chase boat to the 60 metre superyacht Project Skyfall, which is currently in build at Heesen Yachts.
The VQ80 was first revealed in July 2020 and has been designed inside and out by Guido de Groot with naval architecture by Studio Delta. A hybrid between a sportfish superyacht and VQ powerboat, the yacht combines “imposing looks, breakneck speed and high-tech sophistication”, the builder said.
The aggressive paint scheme and exterior, designed to match that of the mothership, contrasts an “elegant and sporty interior” with light features with dark faucets.
Speaking on the project, Guido de Groot said: “The client has set out to create a very special sportfish that resembles nothing else on the water today. We had to play a lot with the proportions in order to get the height right, especially with the tuna tower on top, part of which has been integrated into the superstructure.
“The same applies to the spacious stern fishing cockpit, the upper line of which flows over the hull and blends with the engine room and cabin windows to generate a unified design signature as well as a true sense of swiftness.”
Accommodation on board is for a total of six guests in a forward owner’s suite and two double guest cabins while the crew accommodation allows for a staff of two.
Power will come from Caterpillar C32 Marine engines of 4800 total horsepower for a range of 330 nautical miles at 48-50 knots. The yacht will now undertake sea trials.
