A rare opportunity to acquire the 106.1-metre Lürssen Amadea is now open to qualified bidders – for a limited time only. BOAT takes a look inside...
Few names command the same reverence as Lürssen in the world of superyachting. Known for producing some of the most iconic vessels on the water, the German shipyard has long set the gold standard for ultra-luxurious yachts. Now, in a time-limited offering, its 106.1-metre Amadea is being offered for sale via a court-ordered auction.
"This is perhaps the most spectacular, exacting and beautiful superyacht any of us will ever see," says Bob Toney, chairman of National Maritime Services, who is administering the sale in collaboration with Fraser Yachts. "An opportunity like this for discerning owners is exceedingly rare – maybe once in a lifetime."
A floating work of art
Launched in 2017, this six-deck floating palace features a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, brought to life by her dynamic silhouette shaped by Espen Øino. A series of curved side overhangs, which Øino describes as "clamshells", lend an instantly recognisable profile, while a striking albatross figurehead is welded proudly to the bow.
Boasting a staggering 4,402GT of internal volume, Amadea’s commanding exterior is matched by a highly detailed interior designed by François Zuretti. The layout prioritizes guest experience above all else. The main saloon is a showstopper, with two deck open foyer lined in marble, a hand-painted Pleyel grand piano, marble fireplace and a central bar stocked with aged whiskies and brandies, illuminated by custom backlighting. This attention to detail continues through to the adjacent dining room for 16, which features a hand-painted Michelangelo-style cloudscape overhead. On deck, guests can enjoy a 10-metre glass-edged mosaic pool with bar stools submerged in the water, surrounded by sunpads and a bar.
Life on board Amadea
Designed as much for wellbeing as she is for socialising, Amadea features a lower deck spa complete with a Hammam, sauna, massage room, chromotherapy plunge pool and a sea-level terrace that opens directly onto the ocean. For remote working or hosting meetings, there is also a meeting room down here connected to the sea lobby with opening terrace, which converts into an extra guest or staff cabin with full head and shower.
The bridge deck is home to a dedicated 4D cinema, with D-Box motion-controlled seats that move and shake in sync with the film for an immersive experience. On deck, guests will find everything they need for al fresco living, including sunbeds, a wet bar and a firepit with heated marble floors.
On the sundeck, a year-round winter garden provides a bright and weather-protected space for dining, inspired by an alpine conservatory. Features up here include a lobster tank, dedicated galley and active water features. Come nightfall, this deck transforms into an open-air nightclub. The sundeck pool and sunbeds convert into a stage – complete with 20,000-watt speakers, stage lights and lasers – while DJs and live bands can plug directly into Amadea’s AV system.
The ultimate owner’s deck
There is accommodation on board for 16 guests across eight cabins, with the crown jewel being the owner’s deck. This private oasis features a forward-facing master suite with floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto a private Jacuzzi. The deck also includes a private saloon, dedicated beauty spa, gym, office, dressing area and his-and-hers bathrooms. There is even a second grand piano in the skylounge. Additional guest accommodations includes two VIP cabins on bridge deck, two double cabins, a twin cabin and another full-beam VIP cabin on the main deck.
A team of 36 crew is housed across 21 cabins, including separate quarters for the captain and first officer on the bridge deck. The yacht is well set up for impeccable service, with two elevators on board serving all decks – one for guests and one for crew. Down on the tank deck, crew are further supported by a dedicated gym and a fully equipped infirmary.
Amadea’s performance profile
With two MTU 5,766hp engines under the hood, Amadea delivers a range of 8,000 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 13 knots and can reach a top speed of 19.5 knots. A dynamic positioning system ensures precise and stable positioning wherever she lies.
She is also equipped with a helipad capable of accommodating a Eurocopter EC135 or similar aircraft. Meanwhile, there is a fully stocked tender garage housing a 10.9-metre limousine tender, a 10.9-metre sports tender and an 8.8-metre beach landing tender, plus an array of water toys.
