DISCOVER THE BLISSFUL BAHAMAS
Captain Aldon of 65-metre Eternity, available for charter with Moravia Yachting, creates the perfect itinerary to explore the Bahamas in all their beauty.
A nation of 16 main islands, and hundreds of cays and islets covering more than 250,000 square kilometres, the Bahamas is known to have some of the world’s most picturesque beaches to explore by superyacht.
Add to this, crystal waters with more than 60 metres of visibility and the third largest barrier reef on the planet and it’s easy to see what makes the Bahamas a charter paradise.
Based at the exclusive Albany Resort, Captain Aldon and his crew pride themselves of being able to maximise this destination, so no matter whether you are looking to dive, snorkel, sail or just soak up the sunshine every guest will enjoy the holiday of a lifetime.
ETERNITY
65m | 2010/2022 | Codecasa
Top speed 17kn | GT 1046 | Crew 17 | Guests 12
Eternity is a 65-metre superyacht built by Codecasa in 2010 and refitted in 2022. With versatile interior and exterior spaces for socialising, she is a popular charter yacht with extensive experience island-hopping in the Bahamas.
THE ITINERARY
Rose Island
Meet Eternity at Albany Resort, which is home to championship golf course designed by Ernie Els and a world-renowned spa. On reaching the boat, Moravia Yachting will have worked with the crew to ensure everything is set up to your exact specifications. You will feel at home straight away on board with the yacht’s Bahamian-inspired Art collection and family-friendly atmosphere.
Following a welcome glass of Champagne and orientation, there are water toys to suit every fitness level, from Seabobs and Jet Skis to SUPs and wakeboards. After a sumptuous lunch, fishing fanatics can take a trawl for Mahi or Wahoo before setting sail to the beautiful Exuma Cays later in the evening.
Highbourne Cay
Known as the gateway to the Exuma Cays, Highbourne Cay is approximately three miles long, covering an area of around 500 acres. Highbourne fits its name perfectly—the island is shaped like the letter H and its highest point is over 30 metres above sea level, one of the highest elevations in the Exumas.
Make the most of Eternity’s extensive toy box and her experienced watersports crew off one of the island’s eight beaches. The crew recommend East Beach, which has three miles of powdery-soft white sand and is one of the few places in the world where the only footprints in the sand are your own.
Norman’s Cay
In the morning Eternity will make the short cruise (less than 8nm) to Norman’s Cay, which is famous for serving as the headquarters for Carlos Lehder’s drug smuggling operation between 1978 and 1982. With ties to the Medellin Cartel and the notorious Pablo Escobar, Lehder built a kilometre-long runway for his fleet of aircraft to use as a strategic refuelling point before continuing onto the United States with entire plane loads of cocaine.
Today, one of the remaining relics of this time is a plane wreck in the shallows of Norman’s Cay cut. Many stories circulate on how the plane came to crash there—whether an embellished story or the truth. Go snorkelling or take a Seabob over the wreck and decide for yourself.
Shroud Cay
After a filling and fabulous breakfast on board, head to Shroud Cay for a full day of beach activities and complete relaxation with beautiful sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters. Enjoy all the stunning scenery and everything the island has to offer alongside a magnificent beach BBQ prepared by the yacht’s experienced chef.
Hawksbill Cay
Awake in Hawksbill Cay—a pristine, uninhabited, and outlying island of the Exuma Park. The principal charterer might opt to have breakfast in their cabin, enjoying the private balcony.
Topical waters and pale sand paint a kaleidoscope of colours around the cay and on land, while remnants of a historic settlement characterise the island’s pirate past.Hunt for treasure at smugglers cove, kayak through pirate’s cut, or wander through the abandoned village in ruins bay. Top it all off with a walk to Hawksbill’s lofty peak for a sublime 360° view.
Twin Cays
Continue south along the Exumas chain to Big Majors, which is home to Pig Beach. Named after the wild pigs that inhabit the island, lounge on the beach, and swim out to approaching boats because they have learned that boats tend to bring them food.
In the afternoon visit Thunderball Grotto, known globally as being an outstanding snorkelling attraction thanks in part to it being featured in films including Thunderball, Never Say Never Again and Splash. The hollowed-out rock, just to the north of the yacht club and most easily accessible at slack tide, creates a natural fishbowl where sea creatures of all kinds and colours of marine life congregate.
Compass Cay
Enjoy another beach day in paradise. Swimming with sharks isn’t always dangerous, and it certainly isn’t at Compass Cay. Nurse sharks, the bottom-dwelling sharks that live in warm, shallow waters of the Bahamas, are a friendly bunch. Tucker Rolle first opened Compass Cay around 60 years ago with several nurse sharks. Over the years, these sharks have become accustomed to human interaction and Tucker now considers them pets. Don’t fear them—you can swim, snorkel, and even pet them.
Albany
An overnight sail back to Albany ensures an easy transit for your departure from Eternity. But before you bid the Bahamas farewell, make sure you take advantage of all that Albany Resort and its surrounding areas have to offer. Why not snorkel on the underwater statue Ocean Atlas, play a round of golf on the challenging Albany golf course, or simply enjoy breakfast with a stunning view. Your last day is yours to savour.
