Seaquell: A proven global cruiser
LOA: 38.4m
Builder: Alloy Yachts
Online bidding period: 25 June - 2 July
Opening bid: €1,000,000
Described by her broker as “a well-maintained yacht available immediately for her next adventure", Seaquell was built by New Zealand's Alloy Yachts in 1992, with exterior lines by Dubois Naval Architects Ltd. Lovingly cared for throughout her life, she underwent her most recent refit in 2022.
With an aluminium hull and superstructure, she has excellent sailing performance with an in-boom furling mainsail. She has a comprehensive sailplan to withstand varied conditions, including a storm jib, gennaker and genoa. When under power, she has a range of 4,000 nautical miles, with a cruising speed of 10 knots, topping out at 12.5 knots. This has made her a true global cruiser, with her travels over the past 12 years having included the Pacific, Caribbean, Great Lakes, Mediterranean and the Baltic and Black Seas.
Inside, Seaquell features a warm and welcoming interior styled by Agnes Comar. With an internal volume of 131GT, she offers an eight-metre beam, generous headroom and a sense of spaciousness throughout. The layout includes a wheelhouse/upper saloon, plus a main saloon that doubles as a media lounge, complete with a library of music and movies for relaxed evenings on board. Wellness features include a Jacuzzi and steam room, while a commercial-grade galley supports top-tier hospitality.
Accommodation is for six guests across three en suite cabins, comprising a full-beam master suite, a double and a twin, which can be converted into a king-sized bed. A flexible fourth cabin is configured for a nanny or children, but could easily serve as a gym, office or additional storage.
Currently lying in Barcelona, Seaquell is listed for sale with Kevin Paul of Denison Yachting and Michael Bach of Ocean Independence.
Chanticleer: The Grand Dame of American yachting
LOA: 32.9m
Builder: Burger Boat Company
Online bidding period: Mid-July
Opening bid: $800,000
There are yachts, and then there are icons. Chanticleer is unmistakably the latter. This 1973-built Burger was designed by Jack Hargrave and commissioned by none other than Ogden Phipps, the famed American stockbroker, philanthropist and court tennis champion. At launch, she was the largest yacht ever built by Burger and the first in the fleet to feature a helipad.
In 1986, Chanticleer entered a new chapter when she was purchased by Frances Langford, a celebrated singer, actress and philanthropist. A passionate angler, Langford added a cockpit for fishing and transformed Chanticleer into a floating retreat for dignitaries, celebrities and friends.
Over the decades, each of her owners has preserved her legacy. A full rebuild in 2006 brought her back to pristine condition, while updates from her 2023 refit include a fresh hull repaint, a new bimini, an interior refresh (carpets, furnishings and artwork) and an overhaul to her generators.
Inside, Chanticleer features a coastal-inspired décor of white-painted woods punctuated by dark mahogany. There’s no shortage of places to relax either, from the foredeck sunpads to the flybridge seating area, or a meal in the formal dining room or sheltered cockpit.
Sleeping eight guests across four cabins, Chanticleer includes an en suite master, an en suite VIP, a double and a twin. Powered by twin 435hp Caterpillar engines, she cruises at 10 knots and tops out at 12, while her shallow 1.9-metre draught makes her perfect for coastal cruising and island hopping.
Currently lying in Fort Lauderdale, Chanticleer is listed with Dominic Meredith Hardy of Classic Yachts and Rupert Gregory of Rick Obey.
