The app was created to offer visitors the utmost convenience, ensuring they can access useful features and spend more time enjoying the marina itself. Already, more than 19,000 users are active each month, with 93 per cent of annual berth holders embracing the app as their go-to resource. As Matthias Gehring, D-Marin’s chief digital officer, puts it: “Our smart solutions are designed to make marina life more convenient, extra safe and sustainable.”
Peace of mind
Peace of mind is a huge aspect of yachting, and D-Marin’s Smart Sensors are designed to provide exactly that. Powered by the Sense4Boat platform, these devices track risks such as fire, water ingress or electrical issues by alerting both owners and marina teams instantly via the app.
Alerts are integrated directly with the D-Marin App and received simultaneously by marina teams, who are on standby 24/7. On average, more than 200 critical alerts are resolved or investigated each month.
With more than 10,000 sensors in use already, the technology has prevented everything from battery overheating to potential flooding. Owners describe situations where timely alerts saved vessels from disaster, and marina teams are trained to respond within minutes. “Our battery compartment was covered by sails and canvases waiting to be fitted. While sitting in the saloon, I received a notification that the battery temperature had exceeded fifty degrees,” the owner of sailing yacht Zephyros recalls. “We cleared the cabin and discovered that one battery was extremely hot and boiling. Despite being right there, we hadn’t noticed the problem. The sensor saved us from what could have been a disaster.”
