8 February 2022 • Written by Laura Nicholls for Informa

This week, some of the biggest names in the industry are set to gather to showcase their latest masterpieces as part of the 2022 Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show. This year’s version of the show sees the Miami International Boat Show and the Miami Yacht Show joining forces to create one of the largest boat and yacht events in the world. If you're heading to Miami from February 16-20 to get in on the action, here are just some of the key sections of the show to look out for.

Six locations

As the show has expanded, visitors can expect to experience even more locations across Downtown and Miami Beach. The smaller boats measuring up to 15 metres will be found at the Miami Beach Convention Center, whereas the superyachts are to be moored at IGY Yacht Haven Grande at Island Garden. The other on-land portion of the event will take place at the newly reimagined Pride Park, where seminars, entertainment and cuisine will be on offer. The rest of the in-water locations are Sea Isle Marina, One Herald Plaza and Museum Park Marina where there will be motorboats, tenders, accessories, sailboats, catamarans and sea trial opportunities.

The superyachts

With more than 71 yachts over 24 metres already confirmed for the show, the largest of the fleet is set to be the 49.83-metre yacht Thunder from Oceanfast. Other large yachts include the 55-metre Amels Gene Machine and her 55-metre Damen Yachting support vessel Gene Chaser, as well as builds from Sanlorenzo and Horizon.

The show is making a positive effort to run as a socially responsible, sustainably developed and environmentally responsible event. Some of the initiatives include using renewable energy sources and the temporary re-homing of turtles from the Loggerhead Marinelife Center. By relocating any sea trial arranged during the show, boats will be made to avoid the Biscayne Bay where the local manatees can be observed and kept safe as part of the Manatee Protection Plan.

Tickets for the are on sale now. For more information, visit the show's website directly here.
