Plans for the new marina were announced in March last year, following news in 2023 that the shipbuilding group entered into a partnership with the private marina operator.
Once finished, Marina Livorno will host 815 berths for yachts up to 80 metres, with the first 336 berths set to become operational as early as 2026.
Florence-based studio Archea Associati is behind the marina's design, which was conceived to elevate the Tuscan coast through sustainability, innovation and "seamless integration" with the city.
The marina will take a circular, low-impact approach, built with features such as solar canopies, rainwater recovery systems, green walls and natural landscape elements (such as trees and hedges) to blend the marina into its natural surroundings, in line with D-Marin’s commitment to responsible marina management.
Beyond the marina, the project is expected to restore the city’s historic relationship with the water; the Bacino Piccolo will become a water square, while Molo Mediceo [Livorno's historic port] will open to all citizens with public docks, leisure areas, green spaces, dedicated parking and an extended waterfront promenade.
“Marina Livorno reflects our belief that premium yachting and environmental responsibility can and must advance together,” explained Andrea De Santis, chief operating officer of D-Marin. “This marina has been designed not only for boaters, but for the entire Livorno community, a place where innovation, sustainability and the spirit of the city meet.”
Guests to Marina Livorno will experience 24/7 security, concierge support, dining and retail options and the full suite of D-Marin digital services. Marina Livorno will also be included in the marina operator's “Happy Berth Days” loyalty programme, which offers guests a complimentary seven-day stay across its marinas.
The new marina marks a milestone for D-Marin’s growth in the country, which already operates in Punta Faro, Marina di Varazze, Porto Mirabello, Marina degli Aregai and Marina di San Lorenzo.
